The control module may comprise a plurality of contact elements including a first contact element adapted to receive a line voltage and a second contact element adapted to receive a reference voltage; a switch coupled to receive the line voltage; a third contact element coupled to the switch and adapted to provide the line voltage to a power adapter; and a control circuit coupled to the switch and adapted to control the state of the switch; and a fourth contact element coupled to the control circuit; wherein the control circuit generates a signal adapted to be routed to the power adapter by way of the fourth contact element

A control module adapted to be attached to a power adapter is described. The control module comprises a plurality of contact elements including a first contact element adapted to receive a line voltage and a second contact element adapted to receive a reference voltage; a first actuator extending from a housing of the control module and adapted to engage with a connector of a power adapter; a second actuator extending from the housing of the control module and adapted to engage with a tamper resistance element of a power adapter; a control circuit adapted to generate a signal; and a third contact element coupled to the control circuit; wherein the control circuit generates to the signal adapted to be routed to the power adapter by way of the third contact element to detect a change in a state of a switch of a power adapter.

A control attachment configured to provide power to a load is described. The control attachment comprises a first plurality of contact elements; a plurality of openings on a first surface and having a second plurality of contact elements configured to receive a power signal and a neutral signal, wherein the plurality of openings are adapted to receive prongs of a plug; and a transformer coupled to receive the power signal and generate a low voltage signal; wherein the second plurality of contact elements is coupled to the first plurality of contact elements.

An in-wall power adapter adapted to receive a voltage is described. The in-wall power adapter may comprise a first plurality of contact elements comprising a first contact element adapted to receive a line voltage and a second contact element adapted to be coupled to a load; a recess adapted to receive a control module; a second plurality of contact elements associated with the recess and comprising a third contact element coupled to the first contact element and a fourth contact element coupled to the second contact element; a switch coupled to receive the line voltage at a first terminal by way of the first contact element; and a connector coupled between a second terminal of the switch and the second contact element; wherein the connector is in a closed position when no control module is in the recess.

The in-wall power adapter may comprise a first plurality of contact elements adapted to receive wires of a junction box, the first plurality of contact elements comprising a first contact element adapted to receive a power signal, a second contact element adapted to receive a neutral signal, and a third contact element adapted to provide the power signal to a load; a recess adapted to receive a control attachment; and a switch comprising a switch element having a first terminal adapted to receive the power signal and a second terminal adapted to provide the power signal to a load, and an actuator element coupled to the switch element to control the switch element; wherein the in-wall power adapter is adapted to control an application of the power signal received at the first contact element to a load in response to an actuation of the switch actuator.

The control attachment may comprise a body portion adapted to be received by a power adapter; a plurality of contact elements extending from the control attachment, wherein the plurality of contact elements is adapted to be inserted into corresponding contact elements of the power adapter, and comprises a first contact element adapted to receive a first power signal from the power adapter and a second contact element adapted to receive a neutral signal from the power adapter, wherein the first power signal comprises a line power signal from the power adapter; and an actuator element extending from the body portion, wherein the actuator element is adapted to engage a corresponding switch element of the power adapter.

The power adapter may comprise a first plurality of contact elements, wherein the first plurality of contact elements comprises a first contact element configured to receive a power signal and a second contact element configure to receive a ground signal; a recess comprising a second plurality of contact elements, wherein the recess is configured to receive a control attachment that may be removably coupled to the recess; a first switch having a first terminal for receiving the power signal, wherein the first switch is accessible by a user of the power adapter; and a second switch coupled to the first switch, wherein the second switch controls an application of the power signal to a third contact element of the first plurality of contact elements by way of the first switch.

A power switch adapted to provide power to a device is described. The power switch comprises a prong of a plurality of prongs adapted to receive the power; a receptacle adapted to receive a plug of the device receiving the power; a user interface comprising a microphone; and a control circuit coupled to the user interface; wherein the control circuit controls the application of the power to the receptacle in response to the detection of a voice of a user of the power switch.
