Methods and systems are provided for displaying visualizations of a vehicle's capability with respect to an input query corresponding to a prospective action to modify operation of the vehicle. One method involves identifying one or more input query parameters, obtaining current status information for the vehicle, identifying one or more performance constraints for the vehicle, and determining a capability envelope for the vehicle for satisfying the one or more input query parameters for the prospective action based at least in part on the current status information and the one or more performance constraints. The capability envelope includes a plurality of potential trajectories for the vehicle different from a reference trajectory for the vehicle. The method provides graphical indicia of the one or more input query parameters and the capability envelope with respect to the reference trajectory on a navigational map display.

A method for providing task management assistance in managing the flight path to the flight crew is provided. The method comprises: mining flight plan data and navigational data from an aircraft system; obtaining notification data items originating from systems external to the aircraft; determining an estimated flight time to reach each of the plurality of waypoints, course data items, and the upcoming conditions; causing a timeline graphical user interface (GUI) to be displayed on an aircraft display, wherein the timeline GUI is configured to display a timeline, waypoint graphical elements representative of the waypoints, course data item graphical elements representative of the other course data items, and notification data item graphical elements representative of the upcoming conditions; automatically analyzing the mined flight plan data and the notification data items to determine if deviation from the flight plan is suggested; and providing a notification of the suggested deviation from when deviation is suggested.

Systems and methods for providing an integrated flight management display with interactive time-based functionality

Systems and methods directed to improvements in the presentation of CAVS procedures on an aircraft display system over what is conventionally available are provided. The provided systems and methods employ a vertical situation display (VSD), thereby presenting additional relevant visual approach information, such as a vertical distance between the ownship and the target aircraft, descent rates of the ownship and the target and an alerting function for the user-selected CAVS range. The provided systems and methods also capably receive and process user selections of target aircraft from both the lateral display and the VSD.

One exemplary method involves determining a probable range for a metric influenced by a behavior a sensor based at least in part on historical data associated with the sensor, identifying an anomalous condition with respect to the sensor based on a relationship between a current value for the metric indicative of a current behavior of the sensor and the probable range, and providing a graphical indication of the anomalous condition on a display device.

One exemplary method of operating a vehicle involves obtaining one or more user inputs pertaining to an automated action to be performed by an onboard system, obtaining current vehicle status information, determining an operational objective for the automated action based at least in part on the current status information and the one or more user inputs, and providing guidance information pertaining to the automated action in a manner that is influenced by the operational objective and the current status information. A system and method intelligently mines information and briefs an aircrew on conditions outside the aircraft. A mission information manager proactively mines incoming data sources, filters for relevance to current flight, retrieves the most up-to-date information, dynamically selects an appropriate format based on perceptual/cognitive affordances of content, and presents integrated, intuitive data that allows the flight crew to rapidly acquire relevant awareness of conditions outside the aircraft. An expert mission model system reviews incoming information for any situations that are of immediate mission concern. The system presents this information to the flight crew's attention while they have the greatest operational flexibility. Additionally, a human factors module provides decision aiding for select critical phases while taking into account information both outside and inside the aircraft.

System and method for intelligently mining information and briefing an aircrew on conditions outside the aircraft

A method and system for determining whether, when, and how an unmanned agent interrupts a human is provided. The provided method and system uses a two-step multivariate analysis to (i) process a request for human interaction to determine whether to interrupt a human, and (ii) determine when and how to interrupt the human. The provided method and system interrupts the human in a manner that reflects analysis of variables such as mission criticality, whether a delay in the mission is acceptable, and the propriety of interrupting the human.

An augmented tutoring system is provided that includes a simulation device, at least one sensor and a controller. The simulation device is adapted to provide a simulation that has an objective to accomplish by a student, wherein to achieve the objective a plurality of tasks must be correctly completed. The at least one sensor is adapted to monitor a cognitive state of the student while engaged with the simulation. The controller is adapted to process cognitive state information from the at least one sensor and to process student progress information relating to the completion of each of the tasks. The controller is further adapted to provide feedback to the student based at least in part on the processed cognitive state information and the processed task completion information.

Augmented tutoring

A method of operating an aircraft during a flight is provided. An onboard monitoring subsystem of the aircraft detects that a flight crew member is fatigued, and an automated flight crew training exercise is activated in response to detecting that the flight crew member is fatigued. The flight crew member is then engaged with the automated flight crew training exercise, including instructions intended to alleviate flight crew fatigue.
