A substantially zero-carbon-emission (ZCE) process for making propylene polymers and copolymers including: converting alkanes to the olefin monomers ethylene, propylene, and butene or combinations thereof, using renewable electric power and scrubbing the stack gases from any fired heaters or boilers to remove carbon dioxide, in an oxidative-coupling of methane plant including the steps of passing alkanes through an ethylene plant while adding oxygen, passing a portion of the polymerization grade ethylene through a 2-butene plant, and passing the 2-butene stream and a portion of the polymerization grade ethylene stream through a propylene plant. The polymerization grade propylene is polymerized to produce isotactic homopolymer polypropylene, or ethylene-propylene random copolymer, or impact grade polypropylene containing ethylene-propylene rubber.

Integrated process for producing propylene polymers and copolymers with reduced greenhouse gas emission

A product made by a substantially zero carbon emission process for making amorphous poly alpha olefins including, converting alkanes to olefin monomers ethylene, propylene, and 1-butene or combinations thereof using renewable electric power in an oxidative-coupling of methane plant including the steps of passing alkanes through an ethylene plant while adding oxygen, passing the first polymerization grade ethylene through a 2-butene plant, passing a first of the two 2-butene streams and one of the polymerization grade ethylene through a propylene plant, and passing a second of the two 2-butene streams through a 1-butene plant. The next step in the process for making amorphous poly alpha olefins includes polymerizing at least one of the polymerization grade alkenes which includes applying a temperature of 130 degrees Fahrenheit to 175 degrees Fahrenheit to at least one of the polymerization grade alkenes and scrubbing at least one boiler stack gases.

Integrated product by process for poly olefin production with reduced greenhouse gas emission

Disclosed herein are novel polymers and copolymers of alphaolefins produced using various Ziegler/Natta and Metallocene catalysts. Commercial production of these polymers is now possible for the first time owing to the polymer harvesting technology also disclosed herein.

Elastomeric polyolefins production and recovery

A method and apparatus for product recovery of polyolefins, particularly high molecular weight amorphous poly alphaolefins, wherein the use of water during the method is significantly decreased and wherein the intermediate stage of storing and drying the chunk form of the polyolefin is eliminated. Polyolefins produced in a reactor are heated and mixed by sigma blades in a kneader-extruder to remove any unreacted monomer(s). The polyolefin material in a liquid form is then transferred directly to an extruder to further remove any unreacted monomer(s) and catalyst(s). The invention further includes a method of measuring the inventory in a vessel using a gas of known quantity and known thermodynamic properties.

Apparatus for product recovery of polyolefings

Dialkenylbenzene compounds, present in t-butylstyrene in small quantities as impurities are removed by liquid/liquid extraction using aqueous sulfolane as solvent.

Refining of tertiary butylstyrene

The reaction effluent from an oxydehydrogenation reactor, used in the preparation of t-butylstyrene from t-butylethylbenzene, is subjected to liquid-liquid extraction with a sulfolane-water mixture to separate unreacted t-butylethylbenzene from t-butylstyrene.
