Techniques for battery management of a device having multiple batteries are described herein. In one or more implementations, management for increased battery reliability involves assessing a combination of factors that influence a control policy for multiple batteries in a battery system. Based on the assessment, values of control parameters for power management of the battery system are set to reflect a tradeoff between performance and reliability. Then, at least one of battery utilization or charge current distribution is controlled in dependence upon the values that are set. Control of the battery system can be based in part upon differences in cycle counts for multiple batteries of a battery system for a device, such that cycle counts of the multiple batteries are managed for improved reliability.

Battery management in a device with multiple batteries

A device may generate a media stream to be shared with other users by building a media graph, comprising a series of interconnected processing units that perform various processing tasks. However, the time involved in generating the media graph may delay the initialization of the media stream, and adjusting properties of the media stream (such as resolution or codec) may result in an interruption of the media stream while a new media graph is built. Instead, a media graph cache may be provided to cache a set of media graphs, which may be interchangeably selected for rapid initialization and adjusting of media stream properties. The media component (e.g., a videocamera) may also be configured to promote rapid adjustments to some media stream properties, while maintaining other properties (e.g., field of view and white balance) for a smooth transition between media stream property sets.

Rapidly initializing and dynamically adjusting media streams

New systems and methods are hereby provided that inherently and naturally resolve the challenges of synthesizing coordinated inputs from multiple cameras. For example, a multi-sensor mediator may collect the input data from multiple sensors, and generate a composite signal that encodes the combined data from the different sensors. The multi-sensor mediator may then relay the composite signal to a sensor controller, as if the signal were coming from a single sensor. A computing device that receives the input from the sensor controller may then generate an output based on the composite signal, which may include processing the composite signal to combine the separate signals from the different sensors, such as to provide a stereo image output, for example. The multi-sensor mediator makes such an output possible by ensuring coordinated input and processing of the input from the multiple sensors, for example.

Multiple sensor input data synthesis

A streaming video interface component receives video frames from a streaming driver before the frames are received by a consuming application. The streaming video interface component provides the video frames to a video effect rendering component which renders video effects selected by a user. The video frames with the rendered video effects are then provided back to the streaming interface component which thereafter provides them to the consuming application.

A system, device, and method for virtually connecting a media device to a computing device are disclosed. One embodiment comprises a method to operate a virtual media device in a computing device, wherein the virtual media device that is controlled by a remote media device. In this manner, a computing device may stream media data to and from the remote media device.
