A shock resistant carrying case in which to transport fragile equipment (e.g. a portable computer) having a body that is configured to facilitate a stable, close together stacking of a plurality of such carrying cases side-by-side and one above the other in an array of rows and columns that is suitable for storage and/or shipment. The carrying case has a pair of wheels located at one end of a base thereof and a pair of locking feet projecting from the opposite end of the base. The carrying case also has a first pair of interlocking cavities formed in one end of a lid thereof and a second pair of interlocking cavities formed in the opposite end of the lid. The pair of wheels and the pair of locking feet from the base of a first carrying case are received within respective ones of the first and second pairs of interlocking cavities formed in the lid of an adjacently positioned carrying case, whereby the first and adjacent carrying cases are held in face-to-face interlocking engagement with one another.

Stackable interlocking carrying case for a portable computer

A portable office having a shock resistant case within which to carry a computer workstation that includes a personal computer and one or more computer peripherals. In an as-packaged configuration, the computer workstation is detachably connected to a flat table surface that extends across the carrying case. In a detached configuration, the computer workstation is lifted off the table surface and separated from the carrying case to be transported to a remote worksite outside the confines to the carrying case. A shock isolation system suspends the computer workstation above the carrying case and absorbs potentially damaging impact forces and vibrations that are created when the carrying case is subjected to physical forces during the transit. The shock isolation system also permits the computer workstation to be operated from a moving motor vehicle.

A carrying case having a body in which to transport a workstation including a personal computer, computer peripherals (e.g. a printer), and a source of battery power. Located within and extending along one side of the body of the carrying case is a shroud having a cover that is spaced above the body. Pockets are formed through the cover at opposite ends of the shroud. A switch module having a series of manually operable function switches is removably received within one of the pockets at one end of the shroud. A connector module is removably received within the other pocket at the opposite end of the shroud and adapted to interconnect an available power source, the personal computer, and the computer peripherals within the body of the carrying case without having to disturb either of the computer or the peripherals. The function switches of the switch module are selectively operated so that appropriate power and control signals are supplied to the computer and peripherals via the connector module.

Carrying case having plug-in connector and switch modules for a compact portable computer workstation

A compact modular portable work station including a computer, a printer and/or other peripherals, efficiently interconnected with one another with conductors enclosed in a single, shielded composite cable supported by a docking channel having electrical connectors extending therefrom to be connected directly to the computer and the peripheral, all operational from and efficiently packaged within an impact resistant carrying case. Loose, unshielded cables are eliminated and a cellular telephone is placed in a shielded enclosure, under a metal shroud, in order to shield the user and the work station computer and computer peripherals from RF signals emitted by the cellular telephone.
