Methods and apparatuses for synchronizing a system clock of a computer via a local gateway are described herein. In one embodiment, a local clock of a gateway device is periodically synchronized with a remote time service facility over an external network. The synchronized local clock of the gateway device is then used to synchronize a system clock of one or more clients over a local network without having the clients individually to access the remote time service facility. Other methods and apparatuses are also described.

A system delivers power to a powered device through a local area network using a power sourcing equipment to process data of an interconnected network and to receive power from a first power source coupled to the power sourcing equipment. The system may include a powered device coupled at a distance away from the power sourcing equipment through a local area network (LAN) to process the data of the interconnected network through the power sourcing equipment. The powered device may include a modular power over LAN circuit to enable power to the powered device through the LAN when the modular power over LAN circuit is coupled to the powered device.

The invention relates, in an embodiment, to a power supply module configured to be coupled to a power outlet to supply an operating voltage to a data processing device. The power supply module includes a set of signal connectors having at least a first signal connector. The set of signal connectors is configured to provide at least a portion of data received from the data processing device to devices external to the data processing device, whereby the power supply module is disposed in a flexibly-coupled, spaced-apart relationship relative to the data processing device.

The present invention provides an aperture-fed patch antenna assembly that is recessed into a conductive surface of an external shell of an electronic device. In one embodiment, an antenna feed attached to a removable core of the electronic device may be removed from the external shell without requiring a manual disconnecting of the antenna feed from a wireless radio modem in the electronic device. The patch antenna assembly includes a shim having an aperture therein and positioned between a primary dielectric and a printed circuit board to create a secondary dielectric between the primary dielectric and the printed circuit board. In one embodiment, the primary dielectric is ceramic and the shim is plastic.

The invention includes an antenna assembly. The antenna assembly includes an antenna plate that defines an interior surface. The antenna plate includes a boss that extends from the interior surface of the antenna plate and a feed point. The antenna assembly also includes a ground plate that defines an interior surface. The ground plate includes a probe channel and a boss. Both the probe channel and the boss each extends from the interior surface of the ground plate. The ground plate boss is coupled to the antenna plate boss. The antenna assembly also includes a probe feed having a ground wire coupled to the probe channel and a conductor wire coupled to the feed point.

A system and method for scaling image streams that use motion vectors is disclosed. The system combines an error term with a predicted term in order to produce a display value. The system operates on image components represented in the spatial and frequency domains. The system processes motion vectors in the spatial domain. The motion vectors are scaled. The integral part of the scaled motion vector addresses a framestore. The fractional portion of the scaled motion vector is input to a nonlinear filter which determines the value of image components for a location that does not correspond with an image location in the framestore. The output of the nonlinear filter comprises the predicted terms. Data in the frequency domain is processed more efficiently by reducing the size of a block of data by appropriate filtering. The resulting data is transformed to the spatial domain.
