A a clip for mounting an elongated fuel rail with respect to an internal combustion engine. The fuel rail extends along a longitudinal axis and includes a mounting portion at an intermediate positon along the longitudinal axis, and the internal combustion engine includes a recess. The clip comprises a first portion adapted to engage the fuel rail, and a second portion adapted to be slidably received in the recess along a generally transverse axis with respect to the longitudinal axis. The first portion partially surrounds the longitudinal axis and is adapted to engage the mounting portion so as to prevent relative displacement along the longitudinal axis. The second portion is adapted to be releasably retained with respect to the recess.

Fuel rail mounting clip

The present invention provides an assembly having a fuel injector and a fuel supply device. The fuel injector has a first and second end, a fuel metering portion with a longitudinal axis extending therethrough, an outer shell surrounding the fuel metering portion and at least one fixing member that extends generally radially from the outer shell. The fixing member has a leg, where a portion of the leg is substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis. A cross member is located transverse to the portion of the leg and has a projection that has a substantially planar surface and extends toward the outer shell. The fuel supply device has a cup with an injector receiving opening and at least one connecting member with a mating surface adapted to engage the substantially planar surface of the fixing member. A method of connecting the fuel cup to the fuel injector and a method of disengaging the fuel cup from the fuel injector is also provided.

Clip for injector to fuel supply assembly

A fuel rail for a non-return fuel injection system and a method of breaking-up pressure pulsations in the fuel rail. The fuel rail comprises an inlet, at least one first outlet, and a first tube providing fluid communication between the inlet and the at least one outlet. The inlet is adapted for fluid communication with a source of pressurized fuel. Each at least one first outlet is adapted for fluid communication with a respective fuel injector. The first tube extends along a first axis and includes a first portion and a second portion. The first portion extends a first length along the first axis and has a first cross-sectional shape transverse to the first axis. The second portion extends a second length along the first axis and has a second cross-sectional shape transverse to the first axis. The second cross-sectional shape has a first indentation toward the first axis, and the first indentation disrupts pressure pulsations propagating through the first tube.

Rail geometry for minimization of fluid pressure pulsations

The present invention provides an assembly having a fuel injector and a fuel supply device. The fuel injector has first and second ends, a fuel metering portion, having a longitudinal axis extending therethrough, an outer shell surrounding the fuel metering portion, and at least one fixing member extending radially from the outer shell proximate the first end. The fixing member has first and second longitudinal legs extending to a first transverse leg, where all of the legs form a void. Each longitudinal leg has a first portion extending from the outer shell and a second portion that is substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis. The first transverse leg has a substantially planar surface. The fuel supply device has a cup with an injector receiving opening and at least one tab, extending generally radially from the cup. The first end of the fuel injector is disposed in the injector receiving opening. The at least one tab is adapted to releasably engage the fixing member and has a configuration that corresponds with the configuration of the void.

Clip for attachment of fuel supply assembly

A clip for mounting a fuel rail to an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The fuel rail has an outer surface and a projection on the outer surface. The engine has a retaining feature. The clip includes a body extending in a plane and first, second, and third pairs of rail legs extending from the body generally perpendicular to the plane. The second pair of rail legs is generally aligned with and disposed from a respective one of the first pair of rail legs by a predetermined distance. The third pair of rail legs is located distal from the first and second pairs of rail legs. Each of the third pair of rail legs is generally aligned with a respective one of the first pair of rail legs. A free end of each of the pairs of rail legs includes a generally concave surface juxtaposed from and biased toward the other leg of each of the first, second, and third pairs of rail legs. The clip further includes a pair of mounting legs extending from the body generally perpendicular to the plane. Each concave surface of the mounting legs are mountable to the outer surface of the fuel rail. The projection on the outer surface of the fuel rail is locatable between the first and second pair of rail legs. The mounting legs are insertable into the retaining feature such that the clip limits transverse and axial movement of the fuel rail relative to the internal combustion engine.
