A retrograde disposable intravenous (IV) set is disclosed. The IV set includes a diverter housing between upper and lower portions of a fluid line, the diverter housing including a lower end and an upper end extending away from the lower end and the fluid line to a syringe port located in the upper end, and a diverter member within the diverter housing and configured to move within the diverter housing from a first position, at which a first opening through the diverter member forms a first fluid pathway between the upper portion and the lower portion of the fluid line, to a second position, at which the first fluid pathway is blocked and a second fluid pathway is formed between the upper portion of the fluid line and a syringe port. Retrograde infusion may occur when the diverter member is in the second position.

Disposable intravenous (IV) set with flow control valve

The systems, methods and articles described herein are directed to at least one pressure sensor along a downstream fluid line which senses fluid pressure and assists an occlusion detection feature in determining the presence of occlusions in the downstream fluid line. In addition, the system can dynamically adapt the occlusion detection feature based on a delivery of fluid, such as a bolus, in order to prevent the system from creating a false alarm regarding an occlusion of the downstream fluid line.

Fluid line occlusion detection system and methods

Systems for use with a medical device for controlling an infusion device are provided. In one aspect, a system includes an infusion device that is configurable with operating limit parameters for providing medication to a patient, and a limiting system. The limiting system receives laboratory information associated with a patient, compares current operating parameters of the infusion device with the operating limit parameters in view of the laboratory information for the patient before and during administration of the medication to the patient by the infusion device, determines that administration of the medication by the infusion device should be prevented based on comparing the operating parameters with the operating limit parameters in view of the laboratory information and, responsive to determining that the operation should be prevented, prevents the administration of the medication by the infusion device, and generates a notification indicating that the operating limit parameters require modification.

Patient-specific medication management system

Systems for use with a medical device for reducing medication errors are provided. In one aspect, a system includes a medical device that is configurable with operating limit parameters for providing medication to a patient, and a limiting system. The limiting system includes a memory that includes patient-specific information for the patient and a database includes acceptable operating parameters for providing the medication to the patient using the medical device, and a processor. The processor is configured to compare the acceptable operating parameters with the patient-specific information, and provide a modification of the operating limit parameters for providing the medication to the patient based on the comparison of the acceptable operating parameters with the patient-specific information. Methods and machine-readable media are also provided.

Systems and methods are provided for intermittent microinfusion. A system may include a pump and an IV set that includes a y-port valve disposed below a pump interface portion of the IV tubing. The y-port valve may include an internal valve member that allows fluid to flow from the pump to a patient when no syringe is attached to the y-port. The internal valve member may be moved by the attachment of a syringe containing the medication to be infused to the y-port such that the fluid pathway from the pump to the patient is blocked and fluid from the syringe can be injected into the IV tubing between the y-port valve and the pump. The pump may retrograde pump the medication into the tubing via the y-port valve and then forward pump the medication to the patient when the syringe is removed from the y-port.

Systems and methods for intermittent infusion

An infusion device providing an in-progress infusion of at least one of a drug or a fluid consistent with one or more parameters of a first care area in a hospital can be transitioned to a second care area of the hospital. Details of the in-progress infusion can be compared against one or more second parameters defined for the second care area, and a compatibility determination can be made between the in-progress infusion and the one or more second parameters defined for the seconds care area. A handling mode of the in-progress infusion in the second care area can be selected based on the compatibility determination, and the in-progress infusion can be resolved consistent with the selected handling mode. Management of care area transitions of intravenous infusions

Infusion channel identifiers are generated and used that identify infusion channels transporting medication from an infusion pump to a patient. The infusion pump includes a user interface device, a controller, and at least one infusion device. At a first user interface of the user interface device, data associated with an infusion channel is received. Based on the data, the controller generates an infusion channel identifier identifying the infusion channel. On the first user interface, the infusion channel identifier is displayed. At a second user interface of the user interface device, the infusion channel identifier, a beginning time of a desired provision of the medication to the patient, and a time duration of the desired provision is received. The controller actuates the infusion device and the infusion channel at the beginning time for the time duration. The infusion device delivers, via the infusion channel, the medication to the patient.

A patient care system is configured for infusing fluid to a patient. The system includes a plurality of fluid infusion pumps, each of which is connected to a respective fluid supply for pumping the contents of a fluid supply to a patient via fluid supply lines. The system includes a pressure sensor downstream of the fluid infusion pumps for determining if a particular fluid is connected to a designated infusion pump.

System and method for verifying alignment of drug pump and fluid supply

The current subject matter describes a delivery of medication to a patient based on a scan of a medication container by a scanner implemented on an infusion system. The medication can include oral medications, injection medications, patches, and/or medication drops. The scanner can scan a machine-readable representation (for example, a barcode) on the medication container to obtain recommended delivery data. A user interface device of the infusion system can display the recommended delivery data on a graphical user interface. Based on the recommended delivery data and based on a patient diagnosis by a clinician, the clinician can determine actual delivery data.
