A pigmented, aqueous coating composition comprising i) an aqueous dispersion of non-crosslinkable addition oligomer of weight average molecular weight of from 5000 to 15000 Daltons and calculated Fox Tg greater than 0&#xb0; C. and less than 50&#xb0; C. ii) an aqueous dispersion of addition polymer of weight average molecular weight greater than 53,000 Daltons, calculated Fox Tg greater than 10&#xb0; C. and less than 40&#xb0; C. and mean particle diameter of less than 150 nanometers, where the ratio of i):ii) is from 0.25:1 to 2.70:1, based on % weight dispersion solids.

Low VOC coating composition

A process for producing an aqueous dispersion of a polymer in an aqueous medium having a viscosity below 10 Pa.s, in which the polymer is dispersed in an aqueous medium in an extruder at a temperature above 100&deg; C., the pressure inside the extruder being maintained above atmospheric pressure so that the aqueous medium does not boil inside the extruder.

Aqueous dispersion of addition polymer particles

A conventional roller-type paint applicator, having a head surfaced with a paint-retentive material, is modified for use with a thickened paint to produce a textured pattern on a substrate by a sleeve which fits over the existing head. The sleeve, optionally in conjunction with the existing surface of the head, defines a plurality of receptacles for thickened paint which are arranged to determine a desired pattern of paint on a substrate.

Painting device

Cementitious compositions having a modulus of rupture greater than 20 MN/m.sup.2 are prepared by subjecting a mixture of hydraulic cement, fine aggregate, a selected water-dispersible polymer and water to a homogenization process (in order to very substantially reduce voidage in the product) and by thereafter curing and drying the product. The aggregate improves the modulus of rupture and resists any loss in this strength property due to moisture uptake and loss.

Cementitious compositions

Cured cementitious compositions having a modulus of rupture of greater than 15 MN/m.sup.2 are prepared by curing and drying a homogeneous uncured cementitious composition which comprises in defined proportions hydraulic cement, water and a selected water-dispersible polymer.
