A private overlay is provided for information networking that puts the user in charge of the user's personal information. User identity is separated from a numeric tag that points to the cell in which the user equipment can be paged. The private overlay is created by addition of a registration and certification authority such as Public Key Infrastructure and Certification Authority (PKI). The registration and certification authority provides the network and all subscribers with public encryption keys for the network and the users. Private decryption key are generated and stored locally in a suitable manner. With this addition, a private overlay to the existing cellular, wireless or utility distribution infrastructure can be established for a device that has registered with, e.g., a cellular or wireless network or with a utility distribution system.

Private overlay for information networks

A sensor system utilizing flexible electronics for on-line real-time high-sensitivity sampling, monitoring, and analysis of a parameter or analyte of interest in a fluid or in or on a solid is provided. The flexible substrate sensor system comprises a plurality of sensors, a flexible substrate, a network, and a connection between the sensors and the network, wherein the network reads out or collects information from the sensors. The network can be onboard, connected by via a physical connection to the sensors and the flexible substrate, or external to the sensors and flexible substrate, connected via a telemetric or wireless connection to the sensors. The flexible substrate sensor system can be deployed in systems that conduct or distribute fluids or solids, such as distribution systems (municipal water systems, oil or gas pipeline systems), industrial systems (production facilities, piping, and storage systems), and large structures (dams, bridges, walkways, buildings).

A system and method for decoding a block code includes receiving a first word. The first word includes parity bit values and information bit values. A first partial word including the information bit values and a first subset of the parity bit values is generated. The first partial word is decoded to generate a first refined word. The first refined word includes a first set of refined information bit values. A second partial word including the first set of refined information bit values and a second subset of the parity bit values is generated. The second partial word is decoded to generate a second refined word, the second refined word including a second set of refined information bit values.

Method and apparatus for turbo decoding block codes

The invention is made of an apparatus which incorporates a sensor-based means for stabilizing random access networks. In the preferred embodiment, a grid of sensors is used to gather energy measurements for analysis. In a preferred embodiment a neural network has been trained to estimate the number of colliding users in a given slot. This information is used to set parameters in a backoff algorithm so as to stabilize the network and minimize the delay experienced by users. The invention has the ability to locate users geographically within the network coverage area. This information can be used in conjunction with a steerable beam or an array of antennas to develop geographically-determined Aloha subchannels, further increasing the capacity of the system.
