The invention is directed to metal planking used to construct planar surfaces, such as patio, porch and balcony decks, and interior floors and roofs of structures. The metal planking comprises an elongated strut and a slidable cap that covers the strut after the strut is fastened to support members in the structure. The strut includes a first flange and first web spaced apart from a second flange and second web, and a cord extending between the first web and the second web. The cord provides a surface for fastening the strut to the support members of the structure, and the cord includes at least one corrugation extending in an upward direction to a location adjacent the plane of the first and second strut flanges. The slidable cap includes a first hem extending along one edge of the cap, and a second hem extending along the opposite edge of the cap. The first and second hems include a seam shaped to slidably receive either of the strut flanges so that the slidable cap can be pushed onto the flanges and slipped along a length of the strut to cover the strut after the cord is fastened to the support members.

Planking and method of use

An electrical connector (20) is disclosed which includes a dielectric housing (24) having contacts (26) secured therein. The housing has a mounting flange (48) which defines a mounting face (46), a top face (52) and an aperture (54) extending therebetween. The aperture defines aat least one wall. The top face has a transverse channel (62) proximate the aperture, with the wall having a channel (60) that intersects the transverse channel (62). The two channels are substantially perpendicular to each other. A wire formed boardlock (22) is disposed in the aperture (54). The boardlock has a first portion within the aperture and a second portion extending beyond the mounting face for reception in a boardlock receiving hole in a circuit board. The first portion of the boardlock includes a retention portion receivable in the transverse channel (62), and an alignment portion receivable in the channel (60) in the wall.

A connector (12) having a slidelatch member (50) or a slidelatch member (50) adapted to be slidingly secured on a connector (12) by a pair of slidelatch securing posts (56, 58) wherein the slidelatch member (50) is movable laterally between a latched first position and an unlatched second position. The slidelatch member (50) has an elongate base member (60) which defines first and second transverse end portions (66, 68) each having side edges. The base member (60) has an aperture (70) adapted to receive the shroud (72) of the connector (12), and slot means (74, 76) proximate the slidelatch securing posts (56, 58) adapted to permit the slidelatch member (50) to move between the latched first position and the unlatched second position. The slidelatch member (50) further has overturned extensions (80, 82) extending from the transverse end portions (66, 68). Side rails (62, 64) on the slidelatch member (50) extend between the first and second transverse end portions (66, 68) and are integral with side edges thereof. The side rails (62, 64) have structure that cooperates with at least one of the overturned extensions (80, 82) to prevent relative movement between the overturned extension (82, 84) and the side rails (62, 64).

Connector having an improved slide latch and a slide latch member

In accordance with the present invention, an electrical connector 20 has a dielectric housing for receiving at least one coaxial contact 60. The housing has at least one coaxial contact receiving passage 48 and a pair of tines 50 extending angularly toward the profile of each other into the profile of the passage 48. A coaxial contact 60 is received and secured in the passage 48. The coaxial contact 60 has an electrically conductive shell 72 with an electrically isolated concentric center contact 66 therein. The shell 72 has a surface 88 facing rearwardly of the contact 60. The surface 88 is adapted to engage ends 56 of the tines 50 to releasably secure the coaxial contact 60 in the passage 48. Alternate embodiment plug and receptacle contacts are disclosed for power applications.

Snap-in retention system for coaxial contact

A cover assembly (20) for receiving a connector (56) terminated to a cable (92) is disclosed in which the cover assembly has a exterior contoured surface (118), a cavity (134) for receiving the connector and first (74) and second (76) cable exits from the cavity to the exterior contoured surface. Each cable exit is adapted to receive either the cable or a cable exit plug (28). The cable exit plug has first (120) and second (116) surfaces and is adapted to be received in the first cable exit (74) with the first surface (120), contoured to conform to the exterior surface of the housing surrounding the first cable exit, facing outwardly from the cavity. The cable exit plug is also adapted to be received in the second cable exit (76) with a second surface (116) facing outwardly from the cavity. The second surface is contoured to conform to the exterior surface of the housing surrounding the second cable exit.

Cover assembly

A connector assembly (16) having a dielectric housing (20) with contacts (27,29) secured in contact receiving passages (26) has a flange (32) extending from the housing (20). The flange (32) has a pair of spaced apertures (46,48) for securing the connector assembly (16) to a complementary or mating connector assembly (14). A latching member (50) having an aperture (70) to receive housing (20) has slots (74,76) coextensive with apertures (46,48) is received in engagement with flange (30). Received in a flange aperture (46,48) and latching member 50 slot 74,76 is a slidelatch securing post (56,58) having first shoulder (78) spaced from and facing the flange (32), a second shoulder (96) facing the flange (30), and engaging the flange (32) so as to position the first shoulder (78) a predetermined distance from the flange (32), and a shank (92) extending into the aperture ( 46,48) and rolled to secure the slidelatch securing post (52,54) to the flange (32). Latching member (50) is slidably secured to connector assembly (16) between first shoulder (78) and flange (30) with sliding movement also constrained by slots (74,76).
