There is provided a light switch system having a housing and a controller secured to the housing. The controller is to control a light source to generate a light output based on a demanded output. The light source is to illuminate at least a portion of an operational volume. The light switch system also has an occupancy sensor communicatively coupled to the controller. The occupancy sensor is to generate an occupancy indicator to indicate whether the operational volume is occupied. Moreover, the light switch system has a functional module communicatively coupled to the controller. In addition, the controller is to divert power from the light source to the functional module by controlling the light source to a the light output to produce an altered light output based on the occupancy indicator.

A method, system and apparatus for controlling a surgical navigation system are provided. The method 1 comprises receiving image data at a processor from a tracking system; receiving, at a processor, an identifier of a surgical instrument within a field of view of the tracking system; generating, at the processor, output data based on the identifier of the surgical instrument; and transmitting the output data to at least one output device connected to the processor, for controlling the output device.

Method, system and apparatus for controlling a surgical navigation system

A system and method of acquiring an image at a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system is provided. Accordingly, an analog signal based on a pulse sequence and a first gain is obtained. The analog signal is converted into a digitized signal. A potential quantization error is detected in the digitized signal based on a boundary. When the detection is affirmative, a replacement analog signal based on the pulse sequence is received. At least one portion of the replacement analog signal can be based on an adjusted gain. The adjusted gain is a factor of the first gain. The replacement analog signal is digitized into a replacement digitized signal. At least one portion of the replacement digitized signal corresponding to the at least one portion of the replacement analog signal is adjusted based on a reversal of the factor.

System and method for magnetic resonance image acquisition

A medical navigation system is provided, comprising a computing device having a processor coupled to a memory, a tracking camera for tracking medical devices, and a display for displaying an image; an automated arm assembly electrically coupled to the computing device and controlled by a signal provided by the computing device, the automated arm assembly including a multi-joint arm having a distal end connectable to an effector that supports a surgical camera electrically coupled to the computing device; and a medical device having a tracking marker attachable to the medical device. The computing device is configured to position the automated arm assembly, based on an input command, in response to a position in space of the medical device such that a surgical site of interest remains within a field of view of the surgical camera, the position in space of the medical device determined by the computing device based on a signal provided to the computing device by the tracking camera; and display on the display an image provided by an image signal generated by the surgical camera.

Intelligent positioning system and methods therefore

A method of configuring a conducting grid of elements interconnected at intersecting nodes by switches is described. The method includes: constructing a background grid by connection of centroids of the cell shape of the conducting grid; identifying a subset of elements in the background grid that intersect the smooth pattern of loops; identifying a subset of elements in the conducting grid that intersect the subset of elements in the background grid; the subset of elements in the conducting grid forming a discretized pattern of loops representing the smooth pattern of loops; for each of the discretized pattern of loops identifying current-in and current-out nodes; altering the on-off state of individual switches in accordance with the discretized pattern of loops; opening the switch between each respective pair of current-in and current out nodes; and applying power to the conducting grid via at least one pair of the input and output current nodes such that the current flow through the elements generates the magnetic field profile.

Adaptive electromagnet for high performance magnetic resonance imaging

A method of data acquisition at a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system is provided. The system receives at least a portion of raw data for an image, and detects anomalies in the portion of raw data received. When anomalies are detected, the system can correct those anomalies dynamically, without waiting for a new scan to be ordered. The system can attempt to scan the offending portion of the raw data, either upon detection of the anomaly or at some point during the scan. The system can also correct anomalies using digital correction methods based on expected values. The anomalies can be detected based on variations from thresholds, masks and expected values all of which can be obtained using one of the ongoing scan, previously performed scans and apriori information relating to the type of scan being performed.
