Disclosed is a highly conductive polymer electrolyte membrane and a process for producing it. This invention also describes batteries which employ the polymer electrolyte membrane of this invention.

Highly conductive ion exchange polymer and process

Ion exchange membranes or films are made from a solution of perfluorinated cycloalkanes, perfluorinated aromatic compounds and perfluorotrialkyl amines having a critical temperature greater than 150.degree. C. and certain carboxylic fluorinated polymers having an equivalent weight greater than 900. A process for repairing ion exchange membranes and films by spray coating the surface of the membrane or film with the solution is also claimed. The ion exchange membranes and films are useful in chloroalkali cells or fuel cells.

Process for making and repairing ion exchange membranes and films

Process for making ion exchange membranes and films

A sensor which allows dielectric measurements to be made on a high temperature product such as a molten plastic flowing in a conduit. It comprises a ceramic cylinder with an interdigitated electrode capacitor patterned into the inside wall. Uses of the sensor include continuous determination of copolymer composition and polymer viscosity (molecular weight) in a completely non-obstructive manner.

Noninvasive dielectric sensor and technique for measuring polymer

A coated cation exchanged fabric having as its base a fluorinated cation exchange resin, oriented at least 1x, in alkali metal salt form and as its coating an unoriented or oriented melt-fabricable precursor of the same salt-form fluorinated cation exchange resin. Coated cation exchange yarn and process

A fluorinated cation exchange membrane comprising one or more layers of an ion-conductive film and where one or more layers has adhered therein a fabric reinforcement made from fully ion conductive yarn that is oriented and then at least partially hydrolyzed, the film and the yarns being made of melt-fabricable fluorinated cation exchange resin precursors having a mole ratio of non-functional to functional monomer of 2.8-11.8:1, the mole ratio in the film adjacent to the fabric being different from that of the fabric by no more than three units, where the membrane is employed in the process of electrolyzing alkali metal halides.
