An orthopaedic surgical instrument system includes a first broach including a first end configured to be separately secured to a handle and a tapered body having a plurality of cutting teeth defined therein, and a second broach including a first end configured to be separately secured to the handle in place of the first broach, a first tapered body extending distally from a second end positioned opposite the first end, and a second tapered body extending distally from the first tapered body. The tapered body of the first broach and the first tapered body of the second broach have a first outer geometry and the second tapered body has a second outer geometry different from the first outer geometry.

A fixed-bearing prosthesis includes a femoral component having a medial condyle surface and a lateral condyle surface. The knee prosthesis also includes a bearing having a medial bearing surface configured to articulate with the medial condyle surface of the femoral component, and a lateral bearing surface configured to articulate with the lateral condyle surface of the femoral component. A tibial tray is secured to the bearing. The tibial tray has a platform with an elongated stem extending downwardly from a lower surface thereof. A posterior buttress extends along a posterior section of the perimeter of the tray's platform, and an anterior buttress extends along an anterior section of the perimeter of the tray's platform. Differently-sized tibial trays are interchangeable with differently-sized bearings.

A modular knee prosthesis system includes a femoral component having a stem, a plurality of different sizes of sleeves mountable on the stem, and a plurality of different sizes of augments mountable on the femoral component. The system is modular, and provides the surgeon with the option of distally offsetting the joint line by selecting the size of sleeve that will provide the desired joint line. The different sizes of sleeves have different axial lengths but share a common geometry along a substantial part of their lengths so that the same bone cavity will accept multiple sizes of sleeves.

A knee prosthesis system has a tibial component with frame with medial and lateral openings to receive the medial and lateral bearing components. The bearing components have distal surfaces that are exposed when assembled with the frame and pegs extending distally from the distal surfaces. The system optionally includes a tibial base plate with elongated curved receptacles to receive the pegs and allow the frame and bearing component assembly to rotate when mounted on the base plate. Different thicknesses of bearing components can be selectively locked onto the frame. Different sizes of tibial components have commonly sized, shaped and positioned elements so that multiple sizes of tibial components can be mounted on the same prepared tibial surface.

Low profile mobile/fixed prosthetic knee systems

A knee prosthesis system for total knee replacement procedures includes a plurality of distinctly-sized femoral components, a plurality of distinctly-sized fixed tibial components, a plurality of distinctly-sized mobile tibial components, a plurality of fixed inserts, and a plurality of mobile inserts. Each of the mobile inserts is sized and shaped such that each may be optimally matched to one of the femoral components and may be used with any one of the mobile tibial components. Each of the fixed inserts is sized and shaped such that each may be optimally matched to one of the femoral components and may be used with any one of the fixed tibial components.

Knee prosthesis system

A fixed-bearing prosthesis includes a femoral component having a medial condyle surface and a lateral condyle surface. The knee prosthesis also includes a bearing having a medial bearing surface configured to articulate with the medial condyle surface of the femoral component, and a lateral bearing surface configured to articulate with the lateral condyle surface of the femoral component. A tibial tray is secured to the bearing. The tibial tray has a platform with an elongated stem extending downwardly from a lower surface thereof. A peripheral rail extends along at least an anterior section of the perimeter of the tray's platform. The peripheral rail extends upwardly from an upper surface of the platform. A retaining rail extends upwardly from the upper surface of the platform and posteriorly away from the peripheral rail.

Fixed-bearing knee prosthesis

A prosthetic knee system includes a tibial tray, a non-rotating tibial insert, and a rotating tibial insert. The non-rotating tibial insert and the rotating tibial insert are selectively coupleable to the tibial tray such that a fixed or a mobile orthopaedic prosthesis may be configured. In some embodiments, the tibial tray may be a fixed or mobile tibial tray. Additionally, in some embodiments, the prosthetic knee system may include a femoral component.

Mobile/fixed prosthetic knee systems

A modular implant system includes a set of anatomically-designed diaphyseal fitting and filling modular implant components and collars. The diaphyseal component connects with a selected intramedullary stem and with a selected collar component. The collar component connects to another implant component such as a modular articular component, a segmental component or an intercalary component. The diaphyseal component has a tapered porous surface that is received with a tapered bore in the bone diaphysis that is prepared to match the size and shape of the tapered porous surface. The collar component has a porous surface for tissue ingrowth, such as the periosteum, to seal the intramedullary canal. The diaphyseal implant is easy to insert and remove, does not bind before fully seating to prevent stress shielding, and eliminates the long lever arm created when fixation occurs only at the tip of the stem, and should eliminate related stem loosening.

Modular diaphyseal and collar implant

A modular implant system includes a set of anatomically-designed diaphyseal fitting and filling modular implant components and adapters for connection to another implant component such as a modular articular component, a segmental component or an intercalary component. The other end of each diaphyseal component is a tapered porous surface. The tapered porous surface is received with a tapered bore in the bone diaphysis that is prepared to match the size and shape of the tapered porous surface. The diaphyseal implant is easy to insert and remove, does not bind before fully seating, and is designed to prevent stress shielding. The diaphyseal sleeve eliminates the long lever arm created when fixation occurs only at the tip of the stem, and should therefore eliminate related stem loosening.
