Corrugated fluid treatment packs and methods of making corrugated fluid treatment packs are disclosed. The fluid treatment packs may comprise a non-woven fibrous structure having a tubular configuration, a longitudinal axis, and circumferentially extending corrugations.

Corrugated fluid treatment packs and methods of making them

The present invention is a process for removing waxy haze from and improving the filterability of base stocks including heavy mineral oil base stocks, gas-to-liquids (GTL) and hydrodewaxed or hydroisomerized waxy feed basestocks by filtering the waxy haze causing particles out of the base stock employing a filter characterized by a high surface area of pores accessible to the haze wax particles which have particles dimensions of no more than about 5 microns.

Method for haze mitigation and filterability improvement for base stocks

Corrugated fluid treatment packs and methods of making corrugated fluid treatment packs are disclosed. The fluid treatment packs may comprise a non-woven fibrous structure and/or porous membrane having a tubular configuration and a longitudinal axis, the fibrous structure and/or porous membrane being corrugated to define at least one crest, at least one trough, and at least one corrugation, each corrugation including first and second webs, the first and second webs extending into one another along a crest or a trough. The crests, troughs, and corrugations may include webs may which extend circumferentially or helically.

Fluid treatment arrangements and methods involve a plurality of fluid treatment modules and a core assembly that extends through the plurality of fluid treatment modules. Each fluid treatment module has a feed region, a permeate region, and a fluid treatment medium separating the feed region from the permeate region. The feed region extends along a feed surface of the fluid treatment medium, and the permeate region extends along a permeate surface of the fluid treatment region. Feed fluid is directed along the feed region of each module, and a portion of the feed fluid passes as permeate through the fluid treatment medium, into the permeate region, and then into the core assembly. One or more control mechanisms are fluidly coupled to the permeate region of one or more fluid treatment modules to control a flow parameter in the permeate region of the module.

Fluid treatment arrangements and methods

Fluid treatment arrangements and methods involve a spirally wound fluid treatment pack. The fluid treatment pack includes a fluid treatment medium, a feed region, and a permeate region. The feed region extends along a feed surface of the fluid treatment medium and the permeate region extends along a permeate surface of the fluid treatment medium. The fluid treatment pack is spirally wound around a core assembly to form a plurality of windings of the feed region, a plurality of windings of the fluid treatment medium, and a plurality of windings of the permeate region.

A separation device comprises a cylindrical separation pack including a spirally wound porous medium, a feed channel including a shear region, a plurality of permeate passages extending along the permeate side of the porous medium opposite the shear region and perpendicular to the feed channel, a feed inlet, a retentate outlet, and a plurality of permeate outlets.

A pleating apparatus comprises a support surface, first and second pleating surfaces, and a driver for compressing a portion of a filter material between the first and second pleating surfaces to form a pleat, where at least one of the pleating surfaces is curved or extends at an acute angle with respect to a support surface.

A fluid treatment element comprises a fluid treatment pack including a fluid treatment medium. The fluid treatment pack has a hollow interior and a barrier is disposed in the hollow interior. The barrier separates a blind region in which fluid cannot flow between the hollow interior and the fluid treatment pack from an open region in which fluid can flow between the hollow interior and the fluid treatment pack and prevents fluid from flowing between the blind region and the open region. The fluid treatment pack also has an end region having a sealed end. The fluid treatment element defines a flow path for process fluid to be treated passing in a lengthwise direction through a portion of the fluid treatment pack.

Fluid treatment elements

A fluid treatment element is adapted for cross flow filtration which includes a fluid treatment pack having first and second lengthwise ends, a fluid treatment layer that may be pleated, a first mesh layer disposed on a first side of the fluid treatment layer and a second mesh layer disposed on the second side of the treatment layer, the element defining a flow path for a process fluid to be treated passing in a lengthwise direction of the fluid treatment element inside the first mesh layer and a flow path for permeate passing through the second mesh layer. The first mesh layer may open onto the first lengthwise end with the second mesh layer including sealant at the first lengthwise end such that fluid can flow through the first lengthwise end into the first mesh layer but not into the second mesh layer. The element may include a core having a blind region in which fluid cannot pass therethrough and at least one regions where fluid can pass through the core.

Fluid treatment elements adapted for cross flow treatment

A shear separation system or method uses shear lift forces and permeate drag forces to separate substances having a size less than a predetermined separation size from substances having a size greater than the separation size. The balance of the drag forces and lift forces affects a predetermined separation size in that the balance of forces reads the transmembrane passage of substances larger than the separation size yet allows substances smaller than the separation size to pass through the permeable membrane. The shear separation device, method and system can be employed to separate or concentrate from a process fluid substances larger or smaller than the predetermined separation size.

A porous metal filter possessing enhanced anticorrosive properties is provided including sintered metal particles composed of an alloy composition of iron aluminide having a range in concentration corresponding to Fe Al to FeAl phases and having a Bubble Point ratio of about 1.6 or less.

A method for removing iron-containing contaminants from condensate from a power generating plant includes passing the condensate through a plurality of pleated filter elements contained within a housing, including direct the condensate through a pleated hydrophilic film comprising ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene. The invention is capable of removing fine particulate matter and provides long filtration cycles between backwashing.

Method for separating solid particulates from a liquid

A dynamic filter system includes a dynamic filter assembly including one or more filter elements and one or more members disposed within a housing. The filter elements and the members are interleaved and arranged to rotate with respect to one another. The dynamic filter assembly preferably includes one or more mechanisms to prevent preferential fouling.
