Various measures are automatically initiated to help diminish the patient's discomfort. The measures include aromatherapy, visual relaxation therapy, audio therapy, and automatic administration of pain relief.

Incident to receiving this input, the clinician is prevented from receiving messages concerning patients and other matters not related to the one patient in the clinical care room. In addition, one or more visual indicators are provided to alert other clinicians, patients, and visitors that the clinician has begun the medication-administration process.
