A monitor device for connecting to a sensor patch of an ostomy appliance includes a housing, electronic circuitry, a first interface for collecting sensor data from the sensor patch, and a tail portion having a proximal end and a distal end. The tail portion has an electrode extending from the proximal end of the tail portion to a first coupling element on the distal end. The monitor device is adapted to couple mechanically and electrically to the sensor patch of the ostomy appliance for relaying signals from the sensor patch to the monitor device.

A sensor patch for attachment to a base plate for an ostomy appliance, the sensor patch having a distal side and an adhesive proximal side, the distal side being adapted for attachment to an adhesive surface of the base plate, wherein the adhesive surface of the base plate is adapted for attachment of the base plate to the skin surface of a user. The distal surface is adapted for attachment to an adhesive surface of the base plate, and the proximal surface being adapted for attachment to the skin surface of a user. The sensor patch further comprises one or more electrodes () comprising a spatial layout, and a planar adhesive layer () having a proximal side and a distal side () and comprising a first spatial shape. The one or more electrodes are arranged on the distal side of the adhesive layer and the first spatial shape of the adhesive layer generally corresponds to the spatial layout of the one or more electrodes.
