Proposed is a diesel particle filter which comprises a ceramic wall-flow filter substrate and a coating applied in the inflow ducts, which coating is composed of material with a high melting point. The coating () is provided such that, by means of said coating, pores (), which connect the inflow ducts () and outflow ducts (), in the wall () are closed off for the soot particles () at the inflow side without said coating thereby preventing the passage of the gaseous exhaust-gas constituents. The coating may be produced from one or more oxides with a high melting point or from fibrous material with a high melting point. In both cases, the coating has the effect that the depth filtration is considerably reduced, and therefore the back pressure increase encountered during the depth filtration phase is significantly reduced.

The invention relates to a catalyst for purifying the exhaust gases from diesel engines, in particular an oxidation catalyst which is particularly well suited for the purification of exhaust gases from heavy goods vehicles when further exhaust gas purification units such as a particle filter and/or a nitrogen oxide reduction catalyst are installed downstream thereof. The catalyst contains two catalytically active coatings which have different compositions and of which only one is in direct contact with the outflowing exhaust gas. The coating () which is in direct contact with the outflowing exhaust gas is platinum-rich and contains a total amount of noble metal (platinum and palladium) which is greater than that in the coating () which is not in direct contact with the outflowing exhaust gas. The platinum-rich coating () displays an extremely high oxidizing power, in particular in the NO oxidation, while the coating () which is not in direct contact with the outflowing exhaust gas ensures a good 'heat-up performance' of the catalyst.

Diesel oxidation catalyst

An exhaust gas post treatment system for an internal combustion engine, including an intake device for taking hydrocarbons into an exhaust gas pipe carrying the exhaust process gas from the internal combustion engine and a treatment device through which exhaust process gas flows downstream of the intake location and which increases the exhaust process gas temperature by oxidation of the hydrocarbons taken in. An exhaust gas post treatment system and a method for operating the same, in that the treatment device has catalytically coated components, the hydrocarbons are at least partly evaporated in the intake device and are modified chemically by cracking reactions and/or by partial oxidation, and the proportion of platinum, at least in a subregion of the catalytic coating of the components, is less than 50% of the overall mass of all the catalytically active substances in this sub region of the coating.

Exhaust gas aftertreatment system

A catalytically active particulate filter is proposed which is suitable for use in an exhaust gas cleaning system for diesel engines. The particulate filter removes diesel soot particles from the exhaust gas and is also effective to oxidize carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons and to convert nitrogen monoxide at least proportionally into nitrogen dioxide. The particulate filter comprises a filter body () and two catalytically active coatings () and () which contain platinum and palladium, or platinum or palladium respectively, wherein the platinum content of the second catalytically active coating () is higher than the platinum content of the first catalytically active coating ().

Catalytically active particulate filter and use thereof

The invention relates to a catalytically active particulate filter which, in addition to the properties typical of particulate filters, has hydrogen sulphide block function, and to a process for removing nitrogen oxides and particulates from the exhaust gas of internal combustion engines operated predominantly under lean conditions (so-called 'lean-burn engines') using the inventive catalytically active particulate filter. This particulate filter comprises a filter body, a copper compound and an oxidation-catalytic active coating which comprises at least one catalytically active platinum group metal. The copper compound is in a second coating applied to the filter body. The two functional coatings may be applied to the filter body consecutive in the direction of flow, i.e. zoned, or layered one on top of the other.

Particulate filter with hydrogen sulphide block function

An oxidation catalyst is described for the exhaust gas purification of utility vehicles with diesel engines, which contains a substrate and a catalytically active coating of platinum, active aluminum oxide and aluminum-silicon mixed oxide. The two oxidic support materials, aluminum oxide and aluminum-silicon mixed oxide, are catalytically activated with platinum, the majority of platinum being present on the active aluminum oxide. The oxidation catalyst is distinguished by good NO oxidation rates together with a high poisoning resistance against sulfur compounds.

Oxidation catalyst for commercial vehicles comprising a diesel motor

A diesel particulate filter with an oxidation catalyst comprising platinum and palladium deposited thereon is described. Addition of HC storage components to the oxidation catalyst allows the conversion of hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide to be improved significantly.
