Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are provided for securely advertising autoconfigured prefixes in a cloud environment. In some examples, a method can include, receiving, by a first router, an indication of an available network address prefix. In some aspects, the method can also include selecting, by the first router, a first network address prefix that is within the available network address prefix, wherein the first network address prefix provides at least one route to one or more network elements associated with the first router. In some cases, the method may further include sending, to a second router, a message including a stub registration option that indicates the first network address prefix.

Secured advertisement of autoconfigured internet protocol prefixes in a cloud environment

The present technology is directed to signaling unreachability of a network device, more specifically, a prefix of the network device in network that utilizes route summarization. A pulse trigger agent can detect an unreachability of at least one Provider Edge (PE) device in a network domain of a network and determine that a route summarization is being used within the network where the unreachability of the at least one PE device is hidden by the route summarization. A pulse distribution agent can transmit a failure message informing other PE devices of the unreachability of the at least one PE device.

Signaling a prefix unreachability in a network utilizing a route summarization

A method comprises, at a first router configured to perform Bit Index Explicit Replication (BIER) for forwarding of multicast packets in a network, storing configuration information that indicates that the first router belongs to multiple subdomains of a BIER domain, and is able to forward the multicast packets for a virtual private network on the multiple subdomains. The method further comprises, during an auto-discovery procedure, generating an auto-discovery message to include an auto-discovery route and route attributes that indicate the multiple subdomains, and sending the auto-discovery message to a second router of the virtual private network the network.

The invention concerns a method for routing a packet in a packet switching network in disconnected routing mode, implemented by a router, comprising the following steps:—receiving (E) the packet;—reading (E) a field, called the longevity field of the packet, intended to be decremented when traversing a router;—decrementing (E) the value of the longevity field using a step of a predefined value, called the decrementation step;—deciding (E) on the routing of the packet on the basis of the value of the decremented longevity field, the packet being destroyed (E) when said value is less than or equal to zero; the method further comprising, prior to the step of decrementing, the following steps:—obtaining (E) at least one item of information from a group of items of information comprising an item of information relative to routing conditions of the packet and an item of information relative to parameters of the packet;—determining (E) the value of the decrementation step on the basis of at least the obtained information.

Routing method reducing the consequences of microloops

A method is performed at a router configured to perform Bit Index Explicit Replication (BIER) for forwarding of multicast packets in a network. The method includes, upon receiving a multicast packet of a multicast flow, accessing flow mappings in which multicast flows are mapped to fixed accounting values corresponding to the multicast flows. The method further comprises generating a BIER header for the multicast packet by encoding a multi-segment entropy field of the BIER header with (i) a variable entropy value for equal-cost multi-path (ECMP) load balancing, and (ii) a fixed accounting value among the fixed accounting values that is mapped to the multicast flow in the flow mappings. The method also includes encapsulating the multicast packet with the BIER header to produce an encapsulated multicast packet, and forwarding the encapsulated multicast packet.
