The present invention relates to zeolitic adsorbents based on small agglomerated crystals of zeolite X comprising barium, combining optimum properties in terms of selectivity and of mechanical strength. These adsorbents have applications in the separation of fractions of aromatic Cisomers and in particular xylenes, in the separation of substituted toluene isomers, such as nitrotoluene, diethyltoluene or toluenediamine, in the separation of cresols and in the separation of polyhydric alcohols, such as sugars.

Zeolitic adsorbents, their process of preparation and their uses

The invention relates to an adsorbent article. The adsorbent article contains zeolitic particles which include at least one zeolitic adsorbent. The zeolitic particles are immobilized with at least one resin. According to one embodiment, the resin is in the form of particles, which can be melted to form bridges at points of contact between the zeolitic particles, thus immobilizing the zeolitic particles. The average size of the zeolitic particles can be between 0.03 mm and 3 mm. The zeolitic particles contain at least one zeolite and the zeolite content of the article is at least 60 weight percent, based on the weight of the article. The invention also relates to a method for separating a fluid from another fluid or from impurities, by contacting the fluid with the adsorbent article.

The present invention relates to aggregate zeolitic adsorbents based on zeolite X and zeolite LSX. These adsorbents are particularly suitable for separating Caromatic isomers and in particular xylenes, separating sugars, separating polyhydric alcohols, separating isomers of substituted toluenes, separating cresols, separating dichlorobenzenes.

Aggregate zeolitic absorbents, their method of preparation and their uses

The invention relates to aggregate zeolitic adsorbents based on faujasite X type zeolite powder having a low silica content and small crystals, exchanged with barium or based on faujasite X type zeolite having a low silica content and small crystals, exchanged with barium and potassium. The invention also relates to the method for preparing said aggregate zeolitic adsorbents, and also their uses for separating sugars, polyhydric alcohols, isomers of substituted toluene, cresols, or for recovering very high purity paraxylene.

The present invention relates to agglomerated zeolitic adsorbents based on zeolite X with an Si/Al ratio such that 1.15&#x3c;Si/AL&#x3c;1.5, consisting of crystals with a mean diameter of 1.7 mm or less and of an inert binder, at least 90% of the exchangeable cationic sites of the zeolite X being occupied by barium ions. They may be obtained by agglomerating a zeolite X powder having a mean diameter of 1.7 mm or less with a binder, followed by zeolitization of the binder, exchange of the zeolite ions with barium (and potassium) ions and activation of the adsorbents thus exchanged. These adsorbents exhibit, simultaneously, excellent selectivity, reduced mass transfer resistance and excellent mechanical strength and are particularly suitable for the adsorption of the paraxylene contained in C8 aromatic hydrocarbon fractions in liquid phase in processes of the simulated moving bed type and especially for the separation of paraxylene of C8 aromatic hydrocarbon fractions by adsorption, but also for the separation of sugars, polyhydric alcohols, cresols, and substituted toluene isomers.
