A method of performing a high-temperature aging process of a rechargeable cell () comprising an anode (), a cathode (), an electrolyte () and a separator (), is provided. The method includes heating a solid electrolyte interface () formed on the anode () to a predetermined temperature at which a saturated ionic conductivity of the solid electrolyte interface () is elevated, and holding the solid electrolyte interface () at the predetermined temperature for a predetermined minimum time at which ionic conductivity of the SEI becomes saturated.

A method of preparing a lithium-ion cell (), the method including providing to an electrolyte () of the cell, an additive configured to improve formation of a solid electrolyte interface () on an anode (), charging the cell () at a first predetermined charge rate (C) up to a first predetermined voltage (V), wherein the first predetermined voltage (V) corresponds to a voltage at which the additive begins formation of the solid electrolyte interface (), charging the cell () at a second predetermined rate (C) to a second predetermined voltage (V), wherein the second predetermined voltage (V) corresponds to a voltage at which the electrolyte () begins formation of the solid electrolyte interface (); and charging the cell () to a fully charged capacity at a third predetermined charge rate (C), the third charge rate (C) being greater than the second charge rate (C).
