Fiber optic trays adapted to increase fiber splicing/connecting and fiber organizing capacity on the tray. The trays can include multiple splice circuits, each splice circuit including a splice holder area or a connector holder area having a plurality of splice holders or connector holders, and a at least one fiber organizing structure such as a spool structure.

Fiber optic tray

A cable distribution system is provided wherein a feeder cable with one or more feeder fibers is received by a distribution device or box. The feeder fibers are terminated to a fiber optic connector. Customers can directly connect to the connectors of the feeder cable through an adapter and a mating connector for a point-to-point connection. Alternatively, a splitter input can be connected to one or more of the connectors of the feeder cable, such as through a pigtail extending from the splitter, wherein the splitter splits the signal as desired into a plurality of outputs. The outputs of the splitters can be in the form of connectors or adapters. Customers can connect to the splitter outputs through a mating connector (and an adapter if needed).

Cable distribution system

A spool device () for storing at least a portion of a telecommunications cable () in a storage configuration () includes a base (), a spool member (), and a loop engaging member (). The base () includes a plurality of cable holders () configured for receiving a first portion () and a second portion () of the cable (). The spool member () is mounted to the base () and includes a wrapping area () that is configured for storing a coiled portion () of the cable (). The loop engaging member () is configured for engaging a looped portion () of the cable () and thereby secures at least the coiled portion () and the looped portion () of the cable (). The spool device () may be used as an adjustable overlength device for looped cable. The spool device () may store and dispense the cable () while ends () of the cable () remain connected to stationary first and second devices (), respectively.

Spool with multi-position loop keeper

A cable fixation device () includes a base (), an upright () projecting from the base and including a fixation projection () having a reduced dimensional portion () for receiving a cable tie (). Ribs () are provided for engaging the cable jacket or a wrap around the cable. The base () and the fixation projections () can be made from molded plastic. The fixation projections () can be staggered on the cable fixation device (). The cable fixation device () can be mounted with a snap arrangement () to an enclosure () with one or more additional cable fixation devices ().

Cable fixation devices and methods

The trays can include multiple splice circuits, each splice circuit including a splice holder area or a connector holder area having a plurality of splice holders or connector holders, and at least one fiber organizing structure such as a pair of oblong spool structures.

Example telecommunications wall outlets () include a base structure () and a stationary spool structure () extending from the base structure (). The spool structure () includes a hub portion () extending between a first wall () and a second wall (). A length of fiber optic cable () is coiled about the hub portion () between the first and second walls (). A cover () is also provided which covers at least a portion of the spool structure (). The cover () includes a port () aligned over the hub portion () through which the length of cable can be dispensed from the spool structure () by unwinding the cable () about the spool structure () such that the port () revolves around the spool structure (). Additional embodiments are disclosed.

Cable storage arrangement

A fiber distribution system () includes a fiber distribution hub (); at least one fiber distribution terminal (); and a cable () wrapped around a spool () of the fiber distribution terminal (). The fiber distribution terminal () includes a spool () and a management tray () that rotate together. A second connectorized end () of the cable () is held at a fiber optic adapter () on the tray (). After dispensing the first connectorized end () to the hub (), an optical splitter () can be mounted to the tray (). The splitter () has output adapters at which patch cords () can be inserted to connect subscribers to the system. The fiber distribution hub can use the same format of splitters (). Other distributed splitter systems are provided with splicing and/or adding of splitters as needed.

Distribution device with incrementally added splitters

A fiber optic adapter () includes a body configured to mate a first fiber optic connector () with a second fiber optic connector (), the first and second fiber optic connectors () including latches () for mating with catches () of the adapter () for releasably engaging the first and second connectors () with the fiber optic adapter (), wherein the latches () are configured to be unlatched from the catches () by direct contact with the latches (). The adapter () includes a release mechanism () for allowing a user to release the latch () of at least one of the first and second fiber optic connectors () from the adapter () without directly contacting the latch () of the at least one of the first and second fiber optic connectors ().

Fiber optic connection system

A fiber distribution terminal () including a housing (); and a spool arrangement () that can rotate relative to the housing about an axis of rotation. The spool arrangement includes a drum portion () centered on the axis of rotation and a flange () that rotates with the drum portion about the axis of rotation. A fiber optic cable () is coiled on the drum portion. A fiber optic adapter () and a connectorized pigtail () are carried with the flange and positioned within the housing. The spool arrangement () rotates relative to the housing when the fiber optic cable () is paid out. The drum portion () can be removed from the flange after the fiber optic cable has been paid out to provide the distribution terminal with a compact configuration.
