An open-loop electrical current transducer for surface mounting on an external circuit board, including an integrated circuit (IC) chip including a magnetic field sensing portion and connection terminals on a first active side of the IC chip, a lead frame arrangement including a primary conductor and a plurality of secondary conductors comprising IC connection portions, a plurality of bond wires interconnecting the IC connection portions to the connection terminals of the IC chip, and an insulating overmold housing overmolded over the IC chip, the bond wires, and a portion of the lead frame arrangement. The lead frame arrangement is formed from sheet metal having a base sheet of thickness B wherein at least portions of the lead frame arrangement include a thickness equal to the base sheet thickness B. The first active side of the IC chip faces the lead frame arrangement and at least a portion of the lead frame arrangement includes a thinned portion of thickness T between 20% and 80% of the base sheet thickness B, the thinned portion of thickness T including the IC connection portions of the secondary conductors.

Closed loop current transducer includes a fluxgate sensing unit, a compensation coil wound around the fluxgate sensing unit, and a transducer housing mounted around the compensation coil, the fluxgate sensing unit comprising a fluxgate housing, a ring-shaped fluxgate magnetic field detector mounted in the fluxgate housing, and a magnetic shield mounted in the fluxgate housing, the magnetic shield surrounding the fluxgate magnetic field detector. The fluxgate housing includes first and second central parts, each central part comprising a radially inner side wall, a radially outer side wall and a base wall joining the inner side wall to the outer side wall, a sensor housing portion being formed on one side of the base wall and receiving the fluxgate magnetic field detector therein.

Electrical current transducer to measure the current flowing in a primary conductor, the transducer including an outer casing, a magnetic core comprising a magnetic circuit gap, a magnetic field detector comprising a sensing portion positioned in the magnetic circuit gap, an insulating core housing, a secondary coil formed from a wire wound around a coil support portion of the insulating core housing, and an electrostatic shield. The electrostatic shield is positioned between secondary coil and a radially inner wall portion of the outer casing, the radially inner wall portion defining a passage configured to receive said primary conductor therethrough. The electrostatic shield comprises a skirt portion formed by a plurality of flexible strips extending axially from an edge of the shield, the flexible strips configured to elastically bias against a base wall portion of the outer casing.

Electrical current transducer with electrostatic shield

Electrical current transducer including a magnetic core comprising a magnetic circuit gap, a magnetic field detector comprising a sensing portion positioned in the magnetic circuit gap, an insulating support body comprising a coil support portion and a coil terminal connection portion, and a secondary coil formed from a wire wound around the coil support portion. The coil support portion has a generally U-shaped cross-sectional profile comprising a base wall, a radially inner wall extending from the base wall and a radially outer wall extending from the base wall, the radially inner and outer walls having a height configured such that open end edges thereof extend slightly beyond an axial thickness of the magnetic core including any manufacturing tolerances such that the open end edges are folded inwards around corners of the magnetic core by the coil wound around the magnetic core housing.

Electrical current transducer

A closed-loop current transducer comprising a magnetic circuit, a magnetic field detector, and a compensation coil assembly configured to generate a magnetic field opposing a magnetic field created by an electrical current to be measured flowing in one or more primary conductors extending through a central opening of the magnetic circuit. The magnetic circuit comprises a first branch, a second branch, and first and second end branches, interconnecting the first and second branches such that the branches surround a central passage through which the one or more primary conductors may extend, the second branch forming a receptacle that defines a cavity extending in an axial direction A for receiving a sensing portion of the magnetic field detector, the second branch comprising two second branch portions separated by an interface resulting from the bringing together of opposed ends of a single piece magnetic circuit.
