A classification method including first classifying an event of any kind by first rules, and then second classifying events, not identified by the first classification, by a learning base reinforced with all the events identified by the first classification. The method is adaptive if the second classification rules are amended according to new examples that were able to be determined by the first rules.

Method for identifying a person's posture

A method and device for analyzing a gait of a person includes a magnetometer for fastening to a tibial segment of the person, in order to generate a signal representative of at least one projection onto a sagittal plane of an ambient magnetic field in which the magnetometer is immersed and a signal processor to identify instants and/or phases that are characteristic of the gait of the person by identifying particular points in the signal generated by the magnetometer as a function of time.

Device for analyzing gait

This method uses two sets of sensors to estimate certain characteristics of the movement of a device or a person or states, especially postures, they adopt. A first, abundant, set of sensors () is removed after a learning phase where it records with certainty the states obtained by interpreting first decisional rules. The measurements of a second set of sensors (), much more restricted than the first, are correlated to the states reached during the learning period by second decisional rules automatically obtained by supplying a classifier. They are then interpreted to determine the new states reached by the wearer just by means of the second sensors. The results are good in spite of the low number of second sensors, thanks to the accuracy of the second decisional rules.

Method and device for the recognition of the position or movement of a device or a person

A sensor worn by a person measures movements of the person. Movements of orientation are not expressed by rotations leading from a stationary reference point to a reference point associated with the sensor, but by angles separating axes or planes of the stationary reference point and axes associated with the wearer, thereby making it possible to better identify his/her movements and his/her activity. The sensor can be applied to the monitoring of patients.

Method and device for determining a person's motions

A person under supervision wears a sensor consisting of at least one accelerometer () and a magnetometer (), oriented in his vertical direction. A fall event is picked up when a significant and rapid oscillation of the acceleration signal coincides with a shift in the ambient magnetic field between two levels (between t=4000 and t=5000). Additional criteria that may also make use of the magnetometer enable the diagnosis to be made, and it is easier and safer to establish this than with accelerometers alone.
