Phase change ink compositions having a phase change carrier composition containing a wax and a wax-soluble near-infrared (NIR) dye having an absorption maximum in the wavelength region from about 700 nm to about 1400 nm. Bis-ureas as amorphous materials for phase-change ink

A compound comprising a boron subphthalocyanine moiety, a plurality of solubilizing substituents positioned on peripheral cyclic groups of the boron subphthalocyanine moiety and an axial substituent positioned on the boron atom of the boron subphthalocyanine moiety. The plurality of solubilizing substituents comprise an oxygen or sulfur containing functional group and a substituted or unsubstituted, linear, branched or cyclic, aliphatic or aromatic terminal hydrocarbyl group that is 8 or more carbon atoms in length, the hydrocarbyl group optionally containing one or more heteroatoms. The axial substituent is selected from the group consisting of halogen, alkyloxy, haloalkyloxy, ester, carbonyl substituted alkyl, carbonyl substituted haloalkyl, alkylaryloxy, haloalkylaryloxy, alkyl sulfonyl, haloalkyl sulfonyl, alkylaryl sulfonyl and haloalkylaryl sulfonyl. The compound is not one of the following compounds: a) Phenoxytrispentadecylphenoxyboronsubphthalocyanine, b) Chlorotrispentadecylphenoxyboronsubphthalocyanine, or c) 3-Pentadecylphenoxytrispentadecylphenoxyboronsubphthalocyanine. Processes for making the compound are also taught.

Boron subphthalocyanine compounds and method of making

Phase change inks

A dye compound of formula 1: where R and R' are substituents independently selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, Cto Calkyl and a solubilizing moiety comprising a substituted or unsubstituted Cto Chydrocarbyl group. At least one of R and R&#x2032; is not a hydrogen atom or Cto Calkyl. R&#x2033; and R&#x2032;&#x2033; can be independently selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, Cto Calkyl groups or halogens; and X is a squaric acid moiety. A property of the dye compound is that it absorbs radiation having a wavelength in the range of about 700 nm to about 1400 nm.

Dye compounds, method of making the compounds and ink composition employing the compounds

A phase change ink composition including an amorphous compound; a crystalline compound; a polyester polymer, wherein the polyester has a molecular weight of from about 500 to about 8,000 and a polydispersity index of from about 1.0 to about 8.0; an optional synergist; an optional dispersant; and a colorant. A process including (1) incorporating into an ink jet printing apparatus the phase change ink composition; (2) melting the ink; and (3) causing droplets of the melted ink to be ejected in an imagewise pattern onto a substrate. Phase change ink containing polyester for improved image robustness

A phase change ink composition comprising an amorphous component, a crystalline material, a photochromic material and optionally, a colorant, which are suitable for ink jet printing, including printing on coated paper substrates. The novel phase change ink formulation allows the ink to change color when exposed to UV light, reversibly and multiple times, providing an ink suitable for use in security applications.

Photochromic phase change ink compositions

Disclosed herein are curable solid inks which are solid at room temperature and molten at an elevated temperature at which the molten ink is applied to a substrate. In particular, the curable solid ink of the present embodiments comprises a cyclohexyl-based crystalline gellant that impart self-leveling capabilities to the inks, where the cyclohexyl-based crystalline gellant have a structure of Formula I: wherein each X, Y, p, q, R, R, R, and Rare as defined herein.

Crystalline compounds for phase change inks

A solid ink composition comprising an amorphous component, a crystalline material, and optionally, a colorant, which are suitable for ink jet printing, including printing on coated paper substrates, and methods for making the same. Overcoat composition for ink jet printing

A compound comprising a boron subphthalocyanine moiety, a plurality of solubilizing substituents positioned on peripheral cyclic groups of the boron subphthalocyanine moiety and an axial substituent positioned on the boron atom. The plurality of solubilizing substituents comprise an oxygen or sulfur containing functional group and a substituted or unsubstituted, linear, branched or cyclic, aliphatic or aromatic terminal hydrocarbyl group that is 8 or more carbon atoms in length, the hydrocarbyl group optionally containing one or more heteroatoms. The axial substituent is a cyclic group selected from the group consisting of heterocyclic amine groups, diaryl ketone groups, benzotriazole groups, benzyl alcohol groups and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon groups, the cyclic group being bonded to the boron atom by an oxygen containing linking moiety, the cyclic group optionally being substituted with one or more additional substituents. If the axial group is a benzyl alcohol group, the alcohol substituent of the benzyl alcohol is not the oxygen containing linking moiety.
