An oil system of a gas turbine engine, includes a first oil circuit and a second oil circuit. Via the oil circuits, oil is supplied to a hydraulic load of a transmission of the engine. Downstream of the load, in the region of a return of the transmission, oil is introduced into the oil circuits from the transmission. Upstream of the load, in the region of inlets, oil can be introduced into the transmission from the oil circuits. The second oil circuit includes an oil accumulator between the return and the inlet of the second oil circuit. The oil accumulator is configured such that, according to a feed pressure of the oil upstream of the inlet, oil is stored in the oil accumulator or oil stored in the oil accumulator is fed toward the inlet.

A friction of a planetary gearbox, having first and second rotatably connected components. Oil adjacent an oil feed pocket of the first component is directed into a bearing clearance. The oil is directed into the pocket by a line that opens into the pocket. An oil supply unit supplies oil to the bearing clearance at a defined pressure. A ratio between the pulse, via which the oil is directed into the bearing clearance and which corresponds to the product of the square of the inflow rate of the oil into the clearance and the oil density, and the pulse of the oil which adheres to the internal side of the second component ≥5*10. The pulse of the oil adhering to the second component is equal to the product of the square of the velocity of the oil adhering to the second component and the oil density.

Friction bearing and method for lubricating and cooling a friction bearing

A friction bearing of a planetary gearbox, has first and second rotatably connected components. Oil adjacent an oil feed pocket of the first component is directed into the bearing clearance between the components. The oil is directed into the pocket by a first line that opens into the pocket. The profile of the line conjointly with the radial direction of the bearing clearance encloses an angle to direct the oil from the line into the oil feed pocket, the angle being approximately 5°-60° to the radial direction of the bearing clearance and in the main rotation direction of the second component in relation to the first component, or at an angle of approximately 5°-20° to the radial direction of the bearing clearance and in the circumferential direction of the bearing clearance and counter to the main rotation direction of the second component to the first component.

Friction bearing, and method for lubricating and cooling a friction bearing

A plain bearing of a planetary gearbox has first and second rotationally connected components. Oil adjacent an oil feed pocket of the first component is directed into the bearing clearance between the components by a first line that opens into the pocket. The line includes a first portion and a downstream second portion. The flow cross section of the first portion is smaller than the flow cross section of the second portion. The flow cross section for the oil, in the feed direction, in the circumferential direction of the clearance and in the main rotation direction of the second component relative to the first component increases more than counter to the main rotation direction of the second component, or in the circumferential direction of the clearance and counter to the main rotation direction of the second component increases more than in the main rotation direction of the second component.

Plain bearing, and method for lubricating and cooling a plain bearing

A friction bearing of a planetary gearbox has a first rotationally fixed component and a second component rotatably connected thereto. Oil in the region of an oil feed pocket of the first component is directed into the bearing clearance between the components. The oil is directed into the oil feed pocket via at least one first line that opens into the oil feed pocket. Oil is also directed via at least one second line into the oil feed pocket, the port region of said second line into the oil feed pocket in the circumferential direction of the bearing clearance and in the main rotation direction of the second component in relation to the first component and/or in the axial direction of the friction bearing being spaced apart from the port region of the first line into the oil feed pocket.

A planetary gearbox for a gas turbine engine has a planet gear rotatably mounted on a carrier element, which is connected in a rotationally fixed manner to a planet carrier. An oil feed pocket is in a region of an external side of the carrier element, via which oil is passed into a bearing gap between the carrier element and the planet gear. The carrier element has a duct carrying oil. The duct in is provided radially within an external side of the carrier element, having a cross section which is closed in relation to the bearing gap. The duct in the flow direction of the oil has at least two sequential duct portions. The flow cross section of the duct in a transition region between an upstream duct portion and a next downstream duct portion decreases in an at least approximately step-shaped manner.

Planetary gearbox for a gas turbine engine, and gas turbine engine

A planetary gearbox of a gas turbine engine has a planet gear which, via a bearing, is arranged rotatably on a planet pin of a rotatable planet carrier. Oil is introduced through an opening, arranged radially within the bearing, into an oil feed which is open at a feed side and which is connected to the bearing and rotationally joined to the carrier. As the carrier rotates, the oil downstream of the opening is conducted toward the bearing unit by centrifugal force. The open oil feed is, between the opening and the bearing, configured an oil filter through which the oil is conducted. The filter extends counter to the flow direction of the oil from the opening in the direction of the bearing unit, in a flow direction of the oil in the open oil feed.

Planetary gear box and method for operating a planetary gear box and gas turbine engine having at least two central shafts and having a planetary gear box

A planetary gear box for a gas turbine engine, has a planet carrier with a carrier element and a planet gear. The planet gear is mounted rotatably via a plain bearing on the carrier element. An oil feed pocket is provided in the region of an outer side of the carrier element, via which feed pocket oil can be passed into a bearing gap between the outer side of the carrier element and an inner side of the planet gear. In the circumferential region of a main load direction of the plain bearing, the carrier element is formed with at least one channel carrying transmission oil. The channel extends in the carrier element radially inside the outer side of the carrier element, extending in the axial direction of the carrier element, and includes a cross section closed with respect to the bearing gap.

A fluid transfer coupling comprises a first shaft assembly a second shaft assembly, and a seal assembly. The first shaft assembly comprises a first shaft and an annular fin attached to the first shaft, the annular fin having one or more internal passages extending therethrough. Each internal passage connects a centre portion of the first shaft to a radially outwardly facing side of the annular fin. The second shaft assembly comprises a second shaft and an annular trough extending radially outwardly of the second shaft.

Fluid transfer coupling

A transfer coupling includes a static component and a rotatable component arranged concentrically, the static component including a first number of radially extending ports and the rotatable component having a second number of radially extending ports the radially extending ports arranged in a common circumferential plane wherein the ports are configured and arranged, in use, to homogenise a flow area for a fluid being transferred through the ports and thereby create a homogenous volume flow.

A transfer coupling includes a static component and a rotatable component arranged concentrically, the static component including a first number of radially extending ports and the rotatable component having a second number of radially extending ports the radially extending ports arranged in a common circumferential plane wherein the ports are configured and arranged, in use, to homogenize a flow area for a fluid being transferred through the ports and thereby create a homogenous volume flow.
