Systems and methods for monitoring the condition of ultrasonic transducers and ultrasonic probes used in non-destructive testing are provided. In one aspect, a degree of deterioration and end of life of an ultrasonic transducer can be estimated based upon measured environmental and/or operating parameters of the ultrasonic transducer. In another aspect, testing parameters acquired by a single ultrasonic probe or different ultrasonic probes can be measured and analyzed to identify deterioration of an ultrasonic probe.

Condition monitoring of ultrasonic transducers and probes

An inspection system for performing an inspection of an end region of a part is provided. The inspection system includes a robotic assembly positioned along a side of the part. The inspection system includes an ultrasonic probe coupled to the robotic assembly and positioned in proximity to the end region of the part. The ultrasonic probe is moved by the robotic assembly along a path to inspect the end region of the part. During the inspection, the ultrasonic probe transmits a signal towards the end region of the part and receives a reflected signal from the end region of the part. The inspection system provides, as a single system, for inspection of both a body of the part and the end region of the part.

An ultrasonic matrix phased array inspection system can include a plurality of curved matrix phased array probes surrounding a test chamber through which a longitudinal test object passes. Fluid injectors can provide a rotating fluid jacket around the longitudinal test object to ultrasonically couple the plurality of curved matrix phased array probes to the longitudinal test object. The plurality of curved matrix phased array probes can remain in a fixed position during inspection and can inspect the longitudinal test object by transmitting ultrasonic sound waves at various angles to identify flaws of any orientation.

Ultrasonic inspection system

The present disclosure provides a low density polyethylene (LDPE) having (A) a density from 0.910 to 0.924 g/cm, determined according to ISO 1183 at 23&#xb0; C.; (B) an elongational hardening of at least 4.2, at 150&#xb0; C. at an elongational rate of 1 s; (C) a ratio Mw/Mn of at least 18, where (i) Mw is the weight average molar mass, measured by a MALLS detector coupled to a GPC, and (ii) Mn is the number average molar mass, measured by GPC (Gel Permeation Chromatography); and (D) a Mw of at least 230,000 g/mol. The present disclosure also provides an article of manufacture made from or containing (A) a substrate and (B) a coating layer made from or containing the disclosed LDPE. The present disclosure further provides a polymerization process occurring (A) in the presence of oxygen as the only radical initiating agent and (B) in the absence of solvents.

Low density polyethylene with high elongation hardening

A mechanism for assigning an actuator to a device. It includes a transmitter on the device side for transmitting a scanning signal as well as a processing unit on the actuator side which include means for receiving scanning signals and which emits a contact signal when a scanning signal matches a previously defined reference signal. The processing system emits the contact signal only at the end of a predetermined time delay, which is characteristic for a specific actuator, after receiving the scanning signal.

Mechanism for assigning an actuator to a device

A method is for controlling entry, e.g., into a motor vehicle, during which a key and a base station wirelessly exchange authentication data between one another in an active or a passive communication mode. At the beginning of the authentication process, the base station transmits a call signal to the key, and the key replies to the call signal with a reply signal. The base station verifies the received reply signal of the key in the communications mode in which the reply signal was received. If the reply signal of the key was received in the active communications mode, the base station transmits a first selection instruction to the key thus causing the key to perform the subsequent communication in the active communications mode. If the reply signal of the key was received in the passive communications mode, the base station transmits a second selection instruction to the key thus causing the electronic key to perform the subsequent communication in the passive communications mode.

Method and device for controlling entry into a secured location, especially into a motor vehicle

A motor vehicle door lock system with at least one vehicle lock, an outside door handle assigned to the vehicle lock, and at least one sensor assigned to the outside door handle, where the system is adapted to detect the approach of the hand of an operator to the outside door handle and/or touching and/or activating of the outside door handle. In one embodiment of motor vehicle door lock system, the activation of the outside handle by the hand of an operator or the approach to the outside door handle is recognized early. A vibration generator is assigned to the outside door handle such that the outside door handle or a part thereof is mechanically vibrated. A sensor is provided for acquiring the vibration, the sound waves caused by the vibration and/or their reflections so that the motor vehicle door lock system can detect when the outside door handle or a part thereof is being approached and/or touched and/or activated by the hand of an operator.

Motor vehicle door lock system

An authorization checking system for motor vehicles, in which a control unit in the motor vehicle, having a portable user-transponder, in an inquiry-response dialog using data exchange, checks, and allows or blocks, the authorization for unlocking or locking the vehicle doors as well as for starting or driving. In order to be able to modify the identifiers of user-transponders and components of the motor vehicle in a security-relevant manner, a so-called master-transponder is provided in addition to one or a plurality of user-transponders. The master-transponder has a particular, vehicle-specific identifier, using which, in a special-inquiry-response dialog, the authorization to carry out and complete special functions within a preselected scope, going beyond the access and start/drive authorization, can be checked, and allowed or blocked. For carrying out the special functions, the master-transponder has acoustical and/or optical display devices and/or input devices.

Authorization verification system for vehicles

A device for locking and unlocking a door of an object, particularly of a motor vehicle, includes a transmitter unit disposed on the object and a transponder assigned to a user. Safety is increased because, in response to alignment of the transmission lobe with the interior of the object, the range of the field of the transmission lobe formed by the transmitter unit or of the signals emmitted by the transponder can be reduced or disturbed by a switching device, so that a transponder located in the passenger area of the interior cannot be queried.

Device for locking and unlocking a door

A telecontrol device has a base station and control elements for influencing the base station. A storage arrangement is provided in control elements and in base station, information that assigns a control element to the base station being stored in the storage arrangement. A wireless signal-transmission link is formed between base station and control elements for carrying out telecontrol without contact. One control element is configured as the main control element. If it is in the range of the signal-transmission link, the assignment information stored in the storage arrangement can be changed.

Telecontrol device and method for the operation of telecontrol device

A device is proposed for ascertaining distance and transmitting data in a motor vehicle. It has a transmitting arrangement for generating and emitting a radar signal. A receiving arrangement receives a radar signal. It is characterized in that switchover arrangements are provided which cause the transmitting and/or receiving arrangement to operate either in a radar operating mode for detecting the distance and/or speed of a further object, or in a data-exchange operating mode for the exchange of data with a transceiver. Specific functions are enabled in dependence on the data exchange.

A method and a device for allocating an authentication device to a base station, with the base station delivering a search signal which is received by the authentication device and is compared with a previously stored reference signal assigned to a base station. Different methods of operating the device are made possible by designing the door lock as an electromechanical lock which can be locked and unlocked optionally by a manually operable key and/or a button arranged on the inside or electronically by the transmitter and transponder units, and operation is ensured even in the event of a failure of the electric power supply.
