An electronic control unit for a vehicle with a combustion engine and a method of fuel analysis are provided. At least one dynamic torque sensor value from a high pressure pump of the vehicle and at least one additional sensor value including at least one pressure sensor value and/or at least one timing value are used to determine whether a combustible fuel type currently in use is known, unknown, or similar to a known fuel type. In each case, the operation of the combustion engine is optimized using specific parameter configurations for the fuel injectors of the vehicle. The specific parameter configurations are either retrieved from a database, or are generated using artificial intelligence methods.

A method and a system provide direct injection of an improver enriched fuel into an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle. The method comprises providing a fuel with a fuel pump under a first pressure at a fuel inlet of an injector nozzle and providing a fuel improver with an improver pump under a second pressure at an inlet bore of the injector nozzle arranged downstream of the fuel inlet with respect to a nozzle outlet of the injector nozzle. The second pressure is higher than the first pressure at least for a limited time interval prior to injection to enrich the fuel with the fuel improver within the injector nozzle. The method also comprises injecting the improver enriched fuel into the internal combustion engine at the nozzle outlet.

Method and system for direct injection of an improver enriched fuel into an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle

A control method of a fuel injection system is provided. The method includes receiving a set value for a target pressure in an injection rail that provides fuel to the engine and receiving an output demand representing a target amount of fuel to be injected from the injection rail per engine cycle. A control mode signal is received and an actual pressure in the injection rail is measured. A control mode is selected based on the control mode signal. A fuel pump flow demand for a fuel pump connected to the injection rail is determined based on a difference between the set value for the target pressure and the actual pressure, based on the output demand, and based on the selected control mode. The fuel pump is then operated according to the fuel pump flow demand and based on the selected control mode to provide fuel to the injection rail.

Fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine and method and control device for controlling a fuel injection system of an internal combustion engine

A fuel pump for a liquid fuel water injection system of a motor vehicle is provided. The fuel pump includes a low-pressure pump that mixes water from a water tank of the motor vehicle with liquid fuel from a fuel tank of the motor vehicle to a liquid fuel water emulsion and provides the liquid fuel water emulsion at a low pressure. A high-pressure pump is in fluid communication with the low-pressure pump and compresses the liquid fuel water emulsion from the low pressure to a high pressure for injecting the liquid fuel water emulsion into an internal combustion engine of the motor vehicle via an injection rail of the motor vehicle. A pump drive drives the low-pressure pump and the high-pressure pump synchronously with a pump frequency independently from an engine speed of the internal combustion engine of the motor vehicle.

The fuel pump for a fuel injection system includes a low-pressure pump that provides liquid fuel from a fuel tank of the motor vehicle at a low pressure. A high-pressure pump in fluid communication with the low-pressure pump and compresses the liquid fuel from the low pressure to a high pressure for injecting the liquid fuel into an internal combustion engine of the motor vehicle. A pump drive drives the low-pressure pump and the high-pressure pump synchronously with a pump frequency independently from an engine speed of the internal combustion engine of the motor vehicle.
