In some examples, a printer includes a feed mechanism to distribute a build material on a platform and a heater. The heater includes a lamp, a reflector, and a radiant energy absorbing baffle located between the lamp and the reflector. The lamp and the reflector are to direct radiant energy toward the platform, and the radiant energy is to heat the build material.

A color sensor array includes a plurality of sensors. Each of the plurality of sensors has a width dimension and a length dimension that is elongated with respect to the width dimension. The length dimensions of the sensors are substantially equal to one another and parallel to an illumination plane. Each of the plurality of sensors includes a face defined by opposing first and second elongated sides and opposing first and second non-elongated sides. The first non-elongated sides of the plurality of sensors are aligned with one another along an axis that is substantially perpendicular to the illumination plane.

Filter

An optical system includes a lens, a pupil relay, and an aperture stop positioned at a focal point of the lens between the lens and the pupil relay. The lens is configured to collect a plurality of light bundles. Each light bundle emanates from a field point of an object plane and has a center ray substantially parallel to an optical axis of the lens. The lens is configured to direct the center ray of each light bundle through the aperture stop and onto the pupil relay. The pupil relay is configured to image a plane of the aperture stop onto a sensor array.

Collection optics for a color sensor

A color measurement device includes a light pipe and a light source. The light pipe is oriented length-wise towards a color sample surface along a first axis that is non-perpendicular to the surface. A color sample is positioned on the surface. The light pipe has a near opening, a far opening, and a face at the far opening. The near opening is closer to the color sample than the far opening. The light source is positioned near the far opening of the light pipe, and is to output light along a second axis and into the light pipe at the far opening. The light reflects off the surface after exiting the light pipe at the near opening. The second axis is non-perpendicular to the face of the light pipe at the far opening. The light non-uniformly illuminates the color sample after exiting the light pipe at the near opening.

A color sensing apparatus includes an optical system that produces a spatially uniform light beam independent of the use of a diffusion chamber, and a color sensor that senses reflected light of a reflection of the spatially uniform light beam, wherein the optical system includes a light integrator with a tapered inlet surface and a lens secured to an exit plane thereof.

Color sensing device

A first electrical path has a terminal, and a second electrical path has a terminal. First photovoltaic (PV) dies are electrically connected within the first electrical path. Each first PV die is adapted to convert light having a first wavelength range to electrical energy. Second PV dies are electrically connected within the second electrical path. Each second PV die is adapted to convert light having a second wavelength range different than the first wavelength range to electrical energy. A circuit is electrically connected between the terminals of the first and the second electrical paths to limit an absolute voltage difference between the terminals to no greater than a threshold voltage.

Apparatus are provided for use in photovoltaic systems. A photovoltaic array includes a rigid transparent material supporting a flexible material there beneath. Numerous photovoltaic cells are supported by the flexible material and are electrically coupled to circuit pathways borne there on. A positioner operates to shift the flexible material thus adjusting respective angular relationships between the photovoltaic cells and the overlying transparent material. Photovoltaic cells are reoriented in accordance with daily or seasonal variations in the suns position by way of the present teachings.

A color sensing apparatus () includes an optical system () that produces a spatially uniform light beam ().

A color detector includes a light source, a photodiode, and a filter tuned to only allow light of a specific color to pass through to the photodiode. When the light reaches the photodiode, the photodiode outputs a current that indicates that the color is present in the light. The filter may include a pair of partially reflective layers consisting of a reflective metal, such as silver. To prevent the metal from oxidizing or reacting with the environment, the partially reflective layers may be coated with a protective layer, such as aluminum nitride. The color detector may further include a color enhancing layer. Finally, the color detector may include a capping layer. Accordingly, the color detector provided herein allows for the filter to use metals for partially reflective layers that would normally oxidize, as well as detect light of a specific spectrum of wavelengths.

Color detector

A color detector includes a light source, a first filter, and a first photodetector. The light source generates light within a spectrum of wavelengths. The first filter is in optical communication with the light source and is configured to pass light within a first predetermined spectrum of wavelengths. The first photodetector is in optical communication with the first filter and is configured to output a first color signal if light passes through the first filter. The photodetector has an area configured to equalize the first color signal and maximize a signal-to-noise ratio of the first color signal.

A shuttering and sealing device is disclosed. In one embodiment, the device includes an aperture through which light may pass to an optical sensor, a seal surrounding the aperture, and a shutter movable between an open position in which the shutter does not cover the aperture and a closed position in which the shutter covers the aperture and the seal seals the shutter around the aperture.

Hard copy re-emission color measurement system, comprising a light arrangement for emitting light onto a hard copy, a light detector arranged to detect light re-emitted by the hard copy, and a control circuit configured to process the detected re-emitted light. The light arrangement is arranged to separately and simultaneously emit a first light having wavelengths longer than an ultraviolet wavelength and a second light having wavelengths in the ultraviolet range. The light arrangement is provided with a light guide arranged to guide the first and second light on an at least partly overlapping region on a hard copy.
