A binder, with a first panel and at least one fastener. The fastener has a base attached to the panel and a binding member positionable in a closed position defining a closed loop, and in an open position in which the loop is open for mounting and dismounting sheets thereto. A lock is disposed in close proximity with the base and in releasable locking association with the binding member in the closed position. A lever is operatively connected with the lock such that depressing the lever in an unlocking direction causes the lock to release the binding member from the closed position.

The present invention is directed to a report cover combination that includes a slide lock. The slide lock includes a wall defining a channel. Two edges define a slit extending through the wall of the slide lock along its length, and the longitudinal ends of the slide lock are sloped toward the slit to facilitate the insertion of a folded edge of a report cover into the slit of the slide lock. Preferably two parallel lips protrude inward from the edges of the slide lock at the slit. The report cover includes front and back covers having an outer surface. The front and back covers are connected by a hinge. At least one protrusion extends from at least one of the covers adjacent the hinge. The hinge of the report cover is insertable into the channel of the slide lock through the slit. The protrusion is configured and dimensioned to catch against the opposing edges of the slide lock such that the report cover resists extraction from the slide lock.

The present invention is directed to a sheet holder comprising a spine having at least first, second, third, and fourth panels attached in series by first, second, and third hinges, respectively. The panels and hinges are configured and associated such that the spine has a folded position in which the first and second panels are opposed to each other and define a stack space therebetween dimensioned to receive a stack. In this folded position, the third panel is folded over the second panel, and the fourth panel is folded over the first panel. The panels are associated such that a binding fastener is positionable through the first panel, the stack in the stack space, and the second panel. The fastener portions of the binding fastener are disposed between the second and third panels and between the first and fourth panels such that the third and fourth panels cover the fastener portions. A spine closure fastener associated with the first and fourth covers in the folded position to cover the fastener from view. The present invention is also directed to a method of holding at least one sheet within the sheet holder. A stack of sheets is insertable between the first panel and the second panel, forming an inner spine portion. Mechanical fasteners are driving through the inner spine portion to secure the stack of sheets. Once the stack of sheets is secured within the sheet holder with the mechanical fastener, the third and fourth panel are folded over the stack of sheets atop the second panel to abut the first panel. The fourth panel is secured to the first panel to cover the fastener from view.

Slide lock for a report cover

A binder insert with a folder portion and a clip. The folder portion defines at least one ring aperture configured and dimensioned to receive and mount to rings of a binder. The folder portion also has a first sheet defining a clip-mounting aperture and a second sheet facing the first sheet. The clip includes first and second clip portions resiliently biased toward each other. The clip is mounted to the first sheet through the clip-mounting aperture, and the first and second clip portions are disposed in a clamping position on the exterior of the first and second sheets and compressively engaged against the sheets to bias them against each other.

The present invention is directed to a sheet holder, a first panel defining a first window having a first window area, and a second panel defining a second window having a second window area. The first and second panels are joined by at least one hinge, such that the first and second panels are foldable about the hinge to a folded position with the first panel disposed over the second panel. In the folded position, the first and second windows are in overlap with each other such that the first window area overlaps substantially less than the entire second window area.
