A steering torque sensor assembly includes a magnetically coded steering shaft section, which forms a primary sensor, and a secondary sensor for converting the changes in a magnetic field generated by the primary sensor into an electrical signal. The secondary sensor is situated on a sensor circuit board which runs parallel to the steering shaft section and is positioned opposite the primary sensor.

Steering torque sensor assembly

A method test an arrangement for measuring a torque acting on a steering shaft of a motor vehicle. The measurement is carried out using the inverse magnetostrictive effect. The steering shaft has an axis and at least two magnetization areas extending circumferentially around the axis. The arrangement comprises at least four magnetic field sensors for measuring an axial component of a magnetic field caused by the magnetization as well as by the torque. There are at least two combinations of at least two of the magnetic field sensors each, each of which is sufficient to measure the torque. First and second measurement values of the torque are determined with first and second combinations of the magnetic field sensors. The first measurement value and the second measurement value are compared, as a result of which a malfunction of the arrangement can be recognized.

Arrangement for measuring a torque acting on a steering shaft of a motor vehicle and method for checking the arrangement

An assembly measures a bending torque on a machine element extending on an axis using the inverse magnetostrictive effect. The machine element has a cavity and at least one magnetization region, extending circumferentially around the axis. A magnetic sensor is arranged in the cavity to measure a directional component of a magnetic field which is brought about by the magnetization and by the bending torque. A second directional component of the magnetic field may be measured by the magnetic sensor or by another magnetic sensor.

Assembly and method for measuring a bending torque on a machine element

An arrangement for measuring a force and/or a torque using the inverse-magnetostrictive effect as well a method for a measurement of a force and/or a torque using the inverse-magnetostrictive effect are provided. Arrangement and method for measuring a force or a torque, with at least two magnetic sensors spaced apart from one another

The present invention relates to a method and an arrangement for measuring a force and/or moment on a machine element extending along an axis, using the inverse magnetostrictive effect. The machine element has a magnetization region for magnetization, this region fully encompassing the axis. The arrangement includes at least one first magnetic sensor and one second magnetic sensor, each being designed to measure individually a first and a second direction component of a magnetic field that is caused by the magnetization and by the force and/or the moment. The direction components that can be measured using the first magnetic sensor have differing orientations. Likewise, the direction components that can be measured using the second magnetic sensor have differing orientations. The first magnetic sensor and the second magnetic sensor are arranged around the axis at different peripheral positions.

Method and arrangement for measuring a force or a moment, using multiple magnetic sensors

An arrangement for measuring a force and/or a torque (Mt) on a machine element extending along an axial axis is disclosed. The machine element has a cavity and at least one magnetization region, extending circumferentially around the axial axis in an axial section. The arrangement further includes at least one first magnetic field sensor, a second magnetic field sensor, a third magnetic field sensor and a fourth magnetic field sensor, each of which is designed to individually measure an axial direction component of a magnetic field caused by the magnetization and also by the force or torque (Mt) and each of which lies in the axial section. At least the first magnetic sensor and the second magnetic sensor are arranged in the cavity of the machine element.

Arrangement for measuring force and/or torque in a hollow flange using at least four magnetic sensors

A hollow machine element for transmitting a force and/or a torque is provided. The hollow machine element forms a component of an assembly for measuring the acting force and/or torque by using inverse magnetostrictive effect. The hollow machine element extends along an axis and has a cavity that extends along the axis. The machine element includes at least one magnetization region for magnetization, and which includes a magnetostrictive material. A magnetic field measurable via the assembly can be caused by the magnetization and by the force and/or by the torque. The magnetization region is directed toward the cavity and has an axially central segment, in which the magnetization region is arranged at a radial distance from a ferromagnetic region of the machine element to define a gap therebetween. The gap may be empty or filled with insulation, to provide magnetic insulation.

Hollow machine element and assembly for measuring a force or a torque

The present invention relates to an arrangement for measuring a force and/or a torque on a machine element extending in an axis, using the inverse magnetostrictive effect. The machine element has at least one permanent magnetization. The permanent magnetization extends along a closed magnetization path. The magnetization path runs preferably at least partially along the surface of the machine element. The arrangement further includes at least one magnetic field sensor which is arranged opposite the machine element. The magnetic field sensor serves to determine a magnetic field and is designed to measure at least one vector component of a magnetic field coming from the machine element, which field is produced on the one hand by the permanent magnetization and on the other hand by the force and/or by the torque. According to the invention, the orientation of the permanent magnetization relative to the axis changes along the magnetization path.

Arrangement for measuring a force or a torque on a machine element

A sensor unit is disclosed for determining properties of a lubricant; for example, a lubricating grease in a rolling bearing. A machine element may include the sensor unit and a machine assembly may include the machine element. The sensor unit includes a sensor housing having a window which can be aligned to the lubricant. A transmitter for emitting electromagnetic radiation through the window and a receiver for receiving electromagnetic radiation which passes through the window are located in the sensor housing. Evaluating electronics arranged in the sensor housing are electrically connected at least to the receiver. The evaluating unit is designed to generate at least one digital sensor signal. The sensor unit further includes an electrical connection, which is led through the sensor housing and electrically connected to the evaluating electronics in the sensor housing.
