A follower member () for a valve train of an internal combustion engine, the follower member () having a roller () mounted on a pin () for a running contact against a periodic stroke producer, the roller () being mounted with an inner peripheral surface () on an intermediate ring () extending directly on the pin () and forming, together with said the (), an intermediate sliding bearing () situated between the intermediate ring () and the pin (), and the intermediate ring () protruding beyond two front ends () of the roller (). The intermediate ring () has a clearly higher surface hardness than the pin ().

Follower member

A finger follower lever for actuating gas exchange valves of an internal combustion engine, having a lever body formed by two parallel side walls spaced apart by a transversely extending web. The web forms a first, joint socket end as a pivotable support for the lever, and a second end with a valve actuating surface. A cam roller is rotatably held between the side walls via a needle ring of a needle bearing. The cam roller projects partially via an aperture in the web for cam contact. The cam roller is narrow, and the needle ring projects beyond the cam roller at one axial end, and ends directly adjacent to a corresponding side wall. The aperture has a cross section defined by an overlap between a first, cam roller pocket with an extent corresponding to the cam roller in the axial direction, and a second pocket for the needle ring.

Finger follower lever for actuating a gas exchange valve

A connection element () is provided for the captive mounting of a lever-type cam follower (), which is used to actuate a gas-exchange valve () of an internal combustion engine, on a support element (). Said support element () has a spherical end () on which the cam follower () is pivotably mounted by a concave molding (). The connection element () is made from a flat material and is arranged, with a central section (), on a bottom side () of a base () facing the support element (). The base surrounds the concave molding () and connects to the side walls () of the cam follower (). The central section forms, with two limbs () that are spaced apart from each other and a web () connected with the limbs, a U-shaped recess (), which extends in a longitudinal direction of the cam follower () and which surrounds, in an essentially play-free manner, an annular groove () below the spherical end () in a fork-like manner and orthogonal to a pivoting direction of the cam follower (). The limbs () transition into retaining grips () offset by approximately 90&#xb0; and the web () transitions into a support wall () offset by approximately 90&#xb0;. Retaining lugs () located on the retaining grips and the support wall are engaged on a top side () of the base () facing away from the support element () for holding the connection element () on the cam follower (). The retaining grips () are supported on inner sides () of the side walls () of the cam follower () such that the U-shaped recess () is essentially fixed in position in a perpendicular direction relative to the cam follower () and in terms of a shape thereof.
