In order to seal gutters at the ends with low output, an end wall () of a gutter () is provided for surface drainage, comprising a plate element () which can be secured at a first or a second end of the gutter () substantially sealingly closing a cross-section of the gutter (). In addition, the ends () of the gutter () are formed differently. According to the invention, in order to reduce the output, the plate element () can be secured at the first end () of the gutter () with a first edge () oriented upwards or can be secured at the second end () with a second edge () oriented upwards. In this way, an adjustment can be made to both differently formed ends () of the gutter () by simply rotating the plate element.

The invention relates to a gutter element for draining, for example, road surfaces, which can be joined together to form a line of guttering. In order to seal off the connection, an elastic seal () is provided in the abutment region. In order to improve the hydraulic properties of the gutter, the cross-sectional profile of the invert () of the gutter () is substantially V-shaped. A stable and variable design of a drainage structure includes a drainage body () and a cover (). The cover () has engagement devices (') when seen in a longitudinal direction of the drainage body (), whereby the cover connects upper edges (&#x2032;) of the drainage body () to one another transversely to the longitudinal direction in a tension-resistant manner over the entire length of the drainage body. In order to allow the use of different covers () for different loads, for example while using the same drainage body (), two types of engagement devices (&#x2032;) are provided on the drainage body.
