The invention relates to a windshield wiper device for a vehicle, in particular a motor vehicle, having a fastening element fastened to a drive shaft. The windshield wiper device comprises a wiper blade having an elongate upper part, which is at least partially flexible, an elongated lower part, which is at least partially flexible, and a plurality of connecting elements for connecting the upper part and the lower part. Along a longitudinal extension of the wiper blade, the connecting elements are spaced apart from one another, wherein the connecting elements are designed to allow a movement of the upper part and the lower part relative to one another, by means of a movement component, along a longitudinal extension of the wiper blade. The windshield wiper device further comprises a fastening part on the wiper blade side, wherein the fastening part on the wiper blade side comprises a clamping device such that the fastening part on the wiper blade side can be adjusted to the dimension of at least part of the drive shaft.

In the case of a windshield wiper system with two opposite wipersand two reversing motors, the risk of a collision of the wipers can be diminished greatly in that a defined phase displacement is generated between the wiping movements of the two wipers, which are driven in a reversing manner, with the aid of the lever mechanismassociated with the reversing motors, and said phase displacement is arranged so that the one wiper is leading relative to the other wiper in the first wiping direction and lagging in the second wiping direction.

The invention is based on a plastic articulated arm () with a connection part () for a wiper blade formed at its outer end by the side walls (), wherein the connection part () can engage in a hook-in box () of the wiper blade and is provided in the side walls (), which serve to guide the wiper blade laterally, with an open hub () for a pivot pin () of the wiper blade. It is proposed that a window () be provided at least in one side wall () of the connection part () in the longitudinal direction of the articulated arm (), in which window is arranged a spring tongue () which projects outwardly beyond the side wall ().

The invention starts with a wiper blade () comprised of a wiper strip support () and a wiper strip () that is guided laterally by a device () with a connecting rod () vis-&#xe0;-vis a wiper arm (), whereby one end of the connecting rod () is fixed so that it can pivot on an articulated part () of the wiper arm () approx. vertically to the windshield (), and the connecting rod () having lateral guide surfaces is adjacent to a part of the wiper blade (). It is proposed that a pivot bearing () be arranged on both ends of the connecting rod (), one of which permits a movement in the longitudinal direction of the wiper arm () or the wiper blade ().

It is proposed that the bearing surfaces ( ) are arranged and/or designed in such a fashion that, with a smaller joint angle (&phgr;) beyond the transport position, the articulated axle ( ) moves from its seating surface at the hub ( ) toward the open end ( ) and thereby increases the preload on the tension spring ( ).
