Solid cleaning compositions that are safe for contact without the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and have optimal dissolution rate and degreasing performance. In particular, the solid cleaning compositions include a non-hydroxide alkali metal alkalinity source(s), acid(s), water conditioning agent(s), a cleaning surfactant comprising an amphoteric, anionic and/or nonionic surfactant(s) and/or a coating surfactant comprising a nonionic surfactant(s) to provide the optimal dissolution and performance while being PPE-free are disclosed. Methods of providing concentrate and/or use solutions of the solid cleaning compositions and methods of use thereof are also disclosed.

Linen treatment compositions and linen processes are disclosed which help to prevent iron deposition from wash water, and/or redeposition after iron containing stain (such as blood) removal by alkaline detergents. The linen treatment composition is a combination of a hydroxycarboxylic acid and an acid source, which may be organic or inorganic. The invention provides for effective iron control in a phosphorus-free formula that is also free of toxic or hazardous chemicals and includes sustainable, environmentally friendly ingredients, while still providing effective iron control.

Cleaning systems employing detergent compositions in combination with builders comprising alkalinity and chelants are provided. The detergent compositions include amine oxide surfactant and alcohol ethoxylate surfactant blends having a mixture of chain lengths and branching provided. The detergent compositions are particularly efficacious for flexible cleaning systems for cosmetic and other soils as they provide the benefit of separate dosing of surfactants in the detergent from alkalinity sources in a builder composition. A detergent emulsifier for laundry and other hard surface cleaning using an APE-free surfactant blend is disclosed. The emulsifier system is efficacious for removal of oily soils and greasy food removal. The compositions according to the invention include linear and branched fatty alcohol ethoxylates and ethoxylate propoxylate block copolymers. Methods of using the same are disclosed.

A dryer monitor detects when textiles in a dryer are dry, detects when textiles in a dryer are overdry, and/or may count dryer cycles. The dryer monitor includes a humidity sensor, a temperature sensor, a controller and various status indicators. The humidity and temperature sensors may be located outside the drying compartment of the dryer. In the case of a clothes dryer, the humidity and temperature sensors may be located outside the drum of the dryer and may be located, for example, in the exhaust compartment of the dryer. The dryer monitor determines dryness of items in the dryer, and may also determine whether the items are overdry, based on humidity information received from the humidity sensor. The dryer monitor counts dryer cycles based on temperature information received from the temperature sensor.

The present invention provides compositions and methods to reduce smoking and/or haze during a heated laundry process. The compositions include a smoke reducing surfactant package and a detersive surfactant containing an amount of free alcohol. The surfactants are selected such that the amount of smoke or haze produced is reduced and or eliminated when garments contacted with the compositions containing the surfactants are heated to at least about 250&#xb0; F. The fabric treatment composition includes a fabric treatment agent and a carrier component for containing the fabric treatment agent in a solid form during operation conditions in a dryer. The fabric treatment composition is constructed for transferring the composition to wet fabric as a result of solubilizing the fabric treatment composition by contacting the fabric treatment composition with the wet fabric during a drying operation in a dryer. A method for treating fabric is provided.
