Various embodiments include determining a level of a surface of a fluid and/or for determining a quality of the fluid in a fluid container. An example apparatus comprises a sound transducer module having two sound transducers designed to receive and emit sound signals in such a manner that a superimposition sound signal results when the sound signals are superimposed, and a reference element arranged in the fluid at a predefined distance from the sound transducer module and is designed to reflect the superimposition sound signal. The sound transducer module is designed, by superimposing the at least two sound signals, to emit the superimposition sound signal both in a first direction to the surface of the fluid and in a second direction to the reference element, said second direction running at a predetermined sound signal angle with respect to the first direction.

Apparatus for determining a level and/or quality of a fluid in a fluid container

The specification discloses a device for introducing a freezable liquid into the exhaust gas system of a motor vehicle. The device may include a tank for accommodating the freezable liquid, a sensor for determining the concentration and/or the filling level of the freezable liquid in the tank, and a dome-shaped ice protector. The sensor may be arranged at least partially in the tank, on the floor thereof. The dome-shaped ice protector may have rounded side faces which run together in the upward direction and have the purpose of protecting the part of the sensor which is located in the tank. The ice protector may be embodied in one piece with a floor plate of the sensor or with the tank floor and the dome of the ice protector has a completely open upper side.

Device for introducing a freezable liquid into the exhaust gas system of a motor vehicle

A tank ventilation system includes a flushing line, off which a bypass branches and into which the bypass opens out. A sensor is arranged in the flushing line bypass to determine a concentration of hydrocarbons in a fluid in the flushing line. A hydrocarbon tank is coupled via a first connector to a first end of the flushing line and designed for coupling, via a second coupling, to a tank.

The present disclosure relates to sensors and the teachings may be applied to a method and a corresponding apparatus for determining a concentration of a constituent of a fluid mixture in a fluid chamber. A method may include sending and receiving a first sound signal; sending and receiving a second sound signal; measuring the propagation time of the sound signals; calculating a value based on the propagation times representative of the concentration; sending and receiving a third sound signal with a second sound conversion unit; measuring a third propagation time; and calculating a second characteristic value based on the first propagation time and the third propagation time, representative of a mass flow of the fluid mixture.

Method and apparatus for determining a concentration of a constituent of a fluid mixture in a fluid chamber

The internal combustion engine includes at least one cylinder, an exhaust gas tract having a measuring device, and a tank ventilation system having a purge air line, which provides pneumatic communication between the tank ventilation system and the cylinder. The purge air line has a sensor for ascertaining a hydrocarbon content of a gas flow from the tank ventilation system to the at least one cylinder. Fuel metering into the cylinder is controlled dependent on the ascertained hydrocarbon content. An exhaust gas characteristic of an exhaust gas flow that flows in the exhaust gas tract is detected by the measuring device and compared with a specified target value. If the ascertained difference between the detected exhaust gas characteristic and the specified target value exceeds a specified threshold, a test is carried out to determine whether the sensor has a malfunction.

The present disclosure describes a tank comprising an ultrasonic sensor, a first cylindrical reflector, and a second cylindrical reflector. The ultrasonic sensor may be disposed on the floor of the tank for measuring the signal propagation time through a liquid located in the tank and comprise a transmitter/receiver.

In a method for measuring the fill level of a fluid in a housing using an ultrasound sensor, detected multiple echoes in relation to a signal are reflected from a reference point and level echoes in relation to the signal reflected from the fluid level are evaluated in relation to their fluctuation width. The level echoes can be identified in this manner and the fill level determined from the transit times of the signals to the reference point and to the fluid level.

A tank ventilation system having an intake tract, the tank ventilation system including a hydrocarbon reservoir, a sensor, and a valve. The valve and the sensor are arranged in a fluid line that couples the hydrocarbon reservoir to the intake tract. The sensor captures a hydrocarbon concentration of a fluid in the fluid line. A captured value of the hydrocarbon concentration is measured using the sensor. A method and device for measuring the soot load in the exhaust gas systems of diesel engines using a sensor which is mounted downstream of a particulate filter and comprises a sensor element, to measure the operability of the particulate filter. According to the method, the soot load of the sensor element is measured resistively or capacitively using electrodes. The measuring voltage of the sensor element is controlled depending on at least one actual operating parameter of the diesel engine.

A soot sensor for the detection of soot particles in an exhaust gas flow, having interdigitally engaged measurement electrodes applied on a substrate. An electrical resistance between the measurement electrodes is a measure of soot load of the exhaust gas flow. The measurement electrodes are divided into two regions, a first region in which no soot particles can be deposited and a second region where soot particles are deposited from the exhaust gas flow. The first region and the second region are exposed simultaneously to the other conditions prevailing in the exhaust gas flow.
