The present invention relates to a wrapped cord, to a method of making said wrapped cord, to a method of treating said wrapped cord with an adhesive treatment composition, to the treated wrapped cord obtainable by said method as well as to a reinforced rubber article comprising said treated cord, such as automotive tires.

Wrapped cord

A rubber-polyester composite comprising a rubber and a core-and-sheath heterocomponent fiber wherein the fiber core is formed from a linear polyester derived from an alkyl glycol and an aromatic diacid, and wherein the fiber sheath is formed from a compatibilizing acid-terminated or isocyanate-terminated polyester. The fiber sheath may also be composed of a blend of a thermoplastic elastomer and the compatibilizing polyester.

The product is particularly useful for tire cord and filaments include a core of a partially crystalline, oriented polymer and a shell or sheath formed of a blend of robber and a relatively low melting polymer.
