In one embodiment, a networking device at an edge of a network enrolls with a controller that supervises operation of the networking device. The networking device sends a publication request to a cloud-based messaging service. The networking device provides, to the cloud-based messaging service, identification information that indicates the controller that supervises operation of the networking device. The networking device receives, from the cloud-based messaging service, authorization to publish messages to the cloud-based messaging service. The cloud-based messaging service uses the identification information to confirm an identity of the networking device with the controller that supervises operation of the networking device. The networking device sends, after receiving authorization to publish messages to the cloud-based messaging service, a message for publication to the cloud-based messaging service. The message comprises data sourced from an endpoint in the network.

Zero trust for edge devices

Techniques are described to provide industrial machine configurations using private wireless networking. In one example, a method includes provisioning a segmentation policy for a network area, wherein the segmentation policy identifies policy groups for the network area in which each policy group comprises a plurality of devices capable of inter-device communications; provisioning, at a proximity services controller, a connectivity policy for each policy group, wherein the connectivity policy for each of policy group identifies at least one proxy configuration for one or more types of information to be communicated among the plurality of devices of each policy group; establishing connectivity between each device of each of the policy groups and an access point; and communicating the one or more types of information to each of the policy groups based on the at least one proxy configuration for each policy group.

Industrial machine configuration using private wireless networking

In one embodiment, a networking device at an edge of a network extracts data from traffic in the network using a plurality of protocol connectors of the networking device. The networking device normalizes the data extracted from the traffic in the network, to form normalized data. The networking device applies a data transformation to the normalized data, to form transformed data. The networking device identifies, based on a policy, one or more cloud providers as being authorized to receive the transformed data. The networking device sends the transformed data to the one or more cloud providers.

Edge to multi-cloud data processing and governance

Techniques are provided for establishing a Unified Communications (UC) session between a client endpoint device and remote endpoint devices, the client endpoint device managing the session using a first-party call control protocol in response to commands from a third-party control protocol and user input. A hosted virtual desktop (HVD) generates an HVD image and communicates it to the client endpoint device for display, via a virtual desktop interface (VDI) protocol. The HVD image comprises a UC user interface generated by a UC application on the HVD, the user interface comprising at least one user interface element and at least one placeholder where a client-provided user interface element may be inserted. A client UC application receives the HVD image and inserts client-provided user interface elements over the placeholders before sending the integrated image to a client operating system to be rendered on the display of client endpoint device.

Integrated user interface for unified communications applications

In an example embodiment, a device provides a connection to an endpoint coupled with a first network to a virtual desktop client coupled with a second network. The device obtains data from the virtual desktop client which client which includes at least one link to data available from an external server, such as streaming media. The device obtains the data from the external server and provides the data with data obtained from the virtual desktop client to the endpoint.

Providing hosted virtual desktop infrastructure services

Disclosed in an example embodiment herein is an apparatus that comprises an interface for receiving image data from a hosted virtual desktop and sending a desktop image to a client device and graphical processing logic coupled with the interface. The graphical processing logic receives the image data via the interface and performs a graphical processing operation on the image data to create a desktop image. The graphical processing logic employs the interface to provide the desktop image to the client device.

Network appliance for transcoding or enriching virtual desktop infrastructure desktop images

Techniques are provided for establishing an integrated and transparent overlay of a browser window for rendering data such as streaming media on a client endpoint device. A web browser on a Hosted Virtual Desktop (HVD) draws HVD display image comprising a browser window and communicates it to the client endpoint device for display, via a virtual desktop interface (VDI) protocol. The browser window comprises zero or more host-provided window elements such as a window frame and at least one placeholder element where a client-provided frameless browser window may be rendered. A browser (or browser extension) on the HVD works together with a browser server on the client endpoint device to render data such as streaming media in the client-provided frameless browser window in place of the placeholder, before displaying the frameless browser window and the HVD display as an integrated display at the client endpoint device.

Distributed overlay browser for transparent streaming media support in virtualized desktop environment

A method is provided in one example embodiment and includes receiving a message that offers use of a first mobile device as a mobile hotspot for enabling access to a local network; generating a Service Set Identification ('SSID') and a password for the mobile hotspot; and providing the SSID and the password to the first mobile device. The method further includes receiving a request from a second mobile device to access the local network using the mobile hotspot; and providing the SSID and the password to the second mobile device via a second mobile device in accordance with rules that govern access to the local network via the mobile hotspot.

Social cloud application-mediated mobile data hotspot sharing

Described in an example embodiment herein is an apparatus, comprising a communication interface and authentication logic coupled with the wireless interface. The authentication logic authenticates with at least one neighboring device forming a trust relationship with the at least one neighboring device. The authentication logic obtains via the communication interface data representative of a user associated with a user device. The authentication logic sends a challenge to the user device, via the communication interface, the challenge requesting data associated with the user associated with the user device. The authentication logic receives a response to the challenge via the user interface and validates the response to the challenge. The authentication logic provides data to the at least one neighboring device indicating that the user associated with the user device has been authenticated, to enable access to the functionality and/or resources of the at least one neighboring device.

Network mediated multi-device shared authentication

Techniques are provided for using a middlebox to composite displays from multiple hosted virtualized applications (HVAs) for transmission to a client endpoint device. The middlebox receives one or more HVA displays via a virtual desktop interface (VDI) protocol, each HVA display from an individual HVA. The middlebox renders and composites the HVA displays together into a hosted virtual desktop (HVD) display, and sends the HVD display to the client endpoint device via a VDI protocol. The client endpoint device is therefore able to display a composite image of multiple HVA displays even if it is a zero client endpoint lacking the capability to perform compositing itself. In some examples, the middlebox reduces computational load by reducing the HVD frame rate, so that it is able to maintain HVD functionality during times of high system activity.

In-network middlebox compositor for distributed virtualized applications

Techniques are provided herein for providing survivable browsing when a client endpoint device loses contact with its host server. A Hosted Virtual Desktop (HVD) draws and communicates an HVD display image comprising a HVD browser window to the client endpoint device for display, via a virtual desktop interface (VDI) protocol. A browser (or browser extension) on the HVD works together with a browser server on the client endpoint device to synchronize browser data, and in some examples to render data such as streaming media in a client-provided frameless browser window in place of a placeholder in the HVD browser window. In response to the detection of an inactive VDI session, the browser server on the client endpoint device launches an endpoint browser instance to seamlessly switch browsing from the HVD browser window to an endpoint browser window, using the browser synchronization data.

Survivable browsing in virtualized desktop environment when host connectivity is lost
