An optical element for influencing light emitted by a plurality of LEDs, which has a light entrance region for entrance of the light, and a light exit region situated opposite the light entrance region and serving for exit of the light. An arrangement for light emission comprising such an optical element and the LEDs are also disclosed. An axis (A) running both through the light entrance region and through the light exit region is defined by the shape of the optical element; the light exit region is subdivided by a ring-shaped indentation into a central middle region and an edge region arranged around the middle region. The light entrance region and the light exit region are shaped in such a way that, as viewed in a direction along the axis (A), they have an n-fold rotational symmetry, wherein n is a natural number greater than 2.

The invention relates to an optical element for influencing a light that is emitted from a light source, said optical element extending along a longitudinal axis (L). The optical element comprises a front side which faces away from the light source, and a rear side () which faces said light source, a plurality of cell-like light entry regions () being designed on the rear side () in order for light to enter, and extending in a row along a straight line (G) that runs parallel to the longitudinal axis (L). In addition, a deflecting surface region is designed on said rear side () for the purpose of at least partially deflecting the light, said region being connected on a side next to said light entry regions () with respect to the straight line (G). A light exit region is designed on the front side such that light can at least partially exit. Said deflecting surface region extends along the longitudinal axis (L) and comprises surface regions () designed such that each of their surface normals forms an angle smaller than or greater than 90&#xb0; with the longitudinal axis (L). With this orientation of the surface regions (), fewer beams of light are passed on, in the manner of a light guide, in the optical element in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis (L) thus resulting in dazzling effects. This therefore reduces the risk of an unwanted dazzling effect. The invention also relates to a corresponding arrangement of emitting light.

An optical element for influencing a light emitted by a light source, having a front side facing away from and a rear side facing the light source. A recess for the input of the light is formed on the rear side, and a deflecting surface region is formed. On the front side, a frontside surface region is formed. First light beams (L) entering the optical element via the recess, are totally reflected at the deflecting surface region and exit the optical element via the front-side surface region. The front-side surface region causes the second light beams (L) of the light, which enter the optical element via the recess and then hit the front-side surface region directly, to undergo total reflection. High intensity light beams from the light source can be distributed onto a larger region reducing the maximum luminance of the light emitted via the front-side surface region.
