A biopsy instrument () comprising a base member () which extends from a proximal end () to a distal end () along a central geometrical axis (A), wherein at least a distal end portion (') of the base member () is shaped as an elongated hollow tube (), the distal end () being intended to be at least partly inserted into a tissue () from which a biopsy is to be obtained, wherein the hollow tube () is provided with a distally facing circular cutting edge () defining a mouth () of the distal end () of the hollow tube (), wherein the hollow tube () has, at a distal portion (′) of the hollow tube (), a hollow elongated tubular sample acquiring portion (′) having a smooth interior surface (). The disclosure also relates to a kit of parts and a method of acquiring a biopsy.

Biopsy instruments and methods

An apparatus for obtaining an anti-tumour immunologic response by thermotherapy of a treatment lesion covering at least a portion of a tumour is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a heating probe comprising an optical fiber and a cooling catheter. The optical fiber is inserted in the cooling catheter. Further the heating probe has a light emitting area, and the heating probe is interstitially insertable into the tumour of the treatment lesion. The heat probe is internally cooled by a fluid circulating in said catheter. The apparatus further comprises a first thermal sensor member having at least one sensor area. The first thermal sensor member is positionable at a distance from said boundary. The apparatus also comprises a control unit for controlling a power output of said light source based on a measured first temperature.

Apparatus and method for controlling immunostimulating laser thermotherapy

A partial-length catheter, or an extendable tube or sleeve member of the catheter, is selectively movable within the prostatic urethra to open a urine drainage passageway through and obstructed portion of the prostatic urethra or to open the external urinary sphincter muscle and thereby discharge urine from the bladder. A control element is manipulated at a position exterior of the urinary canal to selectively move the catheter or the extendable tube or sleeve member, thereby selectively controlling urine discharge.

Partial-length indwelling urinary catheter permitting selective urine discharge

A partial-length catheter, or an extendable tube or sleeve member of the catheter, is selectively movable within the prostatic urethra to open a urine drainage passageway through and obstructed portion of the prostatic urethra or to open the external urinary sphincter muscle and thereby discharge urine from the bladder. A control element is manipulated at a position exterior of the urinary canal to selectively move the catheter or the extendable tube or sleeve member, thereby selectively controlling urine discharge. The catheter may also be used to diagnose urinary retention problems caused by a weak bladder or a prostatic obstruction.
