Method, apparatus, and computer program product embodiments of the invention are disclosed for negotiation protocols for power delivery from a first device to a connected second device. In example embodiments of the invention, a method comprises: determining whether a connector includes a cable indication that indicates its cable is capable of conducting an elevated power level above a level of a legacy cable; transmitting an offer to a device connected by the cable, to provide one or more supported power capabilities above the level of a legacy cable, if the cable indication is determined to indicate that the cable is capable of conducting an elevated power level above the level of a legacy cable; and transmitting an offer to a device connected by the cable, to provide the power level of a legacy cable, if the cable indication is determined to indicate that the cable is not capable of conducting an elevated power level above the level of a legacy cable.

Method, apparatus, and computer program product for cable detection and power negotiation

A telephone handset comprises a front surface with a display and a keypad. The keypad includes a group of keys for entering alphanumeric signs and a key for navigating a cursor in the display. The navigation key is placed in the front surface of the phone between the display and the group of alphanumeric keys, and it includes a roller body which extends partly though an opening in the front surface of the phone. The roller body is essentially cylindrical with a length and diameter of the same size as the width of the keys in said group of keys for entering alphanumeric signs.

The present invention discloses a device for converting a digital input into an analogue output, comprising means for generating a binary pulse signal in dependence on said digital input, a filter for filtering said binary pulse signal to obtain said analogue output where the level of the analogue output depends on the relation of high and low level pulses of the binary pulse signal during a period and the precision of the analogue output depends on the number of binary pulses during the period. The high and low level pulses in the binary pulse signal are spread through said period.

A display of dot matrix type is used in a portable telephone. The display is divided into a primary display area to show alphanumeric signs and the like, and into an icon area to show predetermined icons. Both display areas show signs by selectively marking a plurality of dots. The primary display area (the dot matrix area) is a so-called graphic display, in which the dots are regular and may be combined to form arbitrary signs. In the icon display area, the dots are shaped according to the icons. The dots are hereby icon-specific, and their irregular shape occurs in practice by slitting the icon concerned in the transverse direction. The icon area will hereby electrically serve as one or more edge rows in the dot matrix area.

An interface unit for providing impedance matching with the impedance Z.sub.line between two transmission line terminals and a transmitter/receiver unit connected thereto comprises a current generator for generating an AC current running into the transmission line, a device for sensing the voltage across the two terminals of the transmission line, and a control device receiving a value of the sensed voltage and controlling the current generator in response thereto, so that said current generator supplies an AC current which, together with the voltage across the two terminals of the transmission line, ensures that, seen from the transmission line, the unit has an output impedance corresponding to the transmission line impedance Z.sub.line.
