A drill pipe protector assembly comprising at least one protector sleeve () adapted to be mounted to the drill pipe string () through a fluid bearing () so as to be co-axially rotatable with respect to the drill pipe string (). A retainer arrangement () axially fixes the protector sleeve () with respect to the drill pipe string (). The fluid bearing () is constructed according to the principles of a hydrostatic fluid bearing. At least one fluid channel () connects the fluid bearing () to a fluid path of pressurized drilling fluid flowing within an inner space () of the drill pipe string ().

Drill pipe protector assembly

Apparatus for drilling and lining a wellbore is described herein. A method of drilling and lining a wellbore is also described herein. A liner hanger is provided, secured in use on a liner. The liner hanger is operable selectively to be set and unset. The liner hanger is adapted to support the liner within an existing casing when set and to release the liner from the casing when unset. A liner hanger setting tool is provided, secured in use on a drill string. The liner hanger setting tool is actuatable selectively to set and unset the liner hanger. The liner hanger setting tool is operable selectively to be activated and deactivated. The liner hanger setting tool is adapted to attach to the liner and/or liner hanger when activated, to support the liner, and to release from the liner and/or liner hanger when deactivated. The method comprises the following steps: (a) setting the liner hanger by actuating the liner hanger setting tool; (b) deactivating the liner hanger setting tool; (c) extending the borehole using the drill string; (d) returning the drill string to its position at the setting step or the deactivating step; (e) activating the liner hanger setting tool; (f) unsetting the liner hanger by actuating the liner hanger setting tool; and (g) lowering the liner down the extended borehole on the drill string.

Method and apparatus for drilling and lining a wellbore

An expandable pipe section, intended to be joined with a corresponding pipe section for use in connection with a well casing of a production well for hydrocarbons, where the pipe section is configured to be screwed on or off an adjoining expandable pipe section, the pipe section at one end being provided with a male end having externally arranged threads and where the adjoining expandable pipe section is provided with a correspondingly shaped female end having corresponding internal threads. The distance between adjacent threads at their widest point is less than the maximum width of a thread. Those parts of the pipe being provided with threads are provided with at least two step wise arranged parts with a cylindrical surface being coaxially arranged with the pipe wall(s).

Expandable pipe section

The equipment for drilling and reinforcing a borehole of a well comprises a drill pipe string carrying a drill tool at its lowermost end and a downhole treatment device held on the drill pipe string for applying a liner of polymer material at the surface of the borehole. The polymer material is a fusible and/or curable material dissolved and/or emulsified and/or dispersed in drilling fluid or mud circulated through the drill pipe string and an annulus between the drill pipe string and the wall of the borehole. The treatment device is adapted to concentrate energy for fusing and/or curing the polymer material contained in the drilling fluid in a limited space at the vicinity of the wall of the borehole. The treatment device thus focuses its energy in the vicinity of the wall and allows a continuous reinforcing of the borehole simultaneously while drilling.

Equipment and method for reinforcing a borehole of a well while drilling

A wellbore machining device is proposed for machining a tubular component of a wellbore. The device includes a control unit at the surface level of the wellbore and a down-hole tool unit connected to the control unit through a wire line. The tool unit includes an elongated guide member, a tool member movably supported on the guide member with respect to at least three axes of motion and a plurality of actuators controlled by the control unit and adapted to move the tool member with respect to the axes of motion. The tool unit further includes two anchor members each mounted to an axial end of the guide member and adapted to releasably clamp the tool unit to the tubular component. The control unit and the tool unit form a computer numerical control device (CNC device) wherein the actuators are electric servo motors controlling an actual position of the tool member with respect to a path and/or a sequence of desired position defined by the control unit.
