Methods and systems are provided for visualizing intersection information on ultrasound images. In one embodiment, a method comprises rendering a three-dimensional (3D) image and at least one two-dimensional (2D) image from a 3D dataset, generating a 3D model of at least a subset of the 3D dataset, identifying intersections between the 3D image, the at least one 2D image, and the 3D model, and displaying the 3D model and the intersections on the 3D model. In this way, a user may easily visualize how the 2D slice planes are positioned with respect to the volume rendering.

Systems and methods for displaying intersections on ultrasound images

Systems and methods for ultrasound image rendering are provided. One system includes a user interface having a display configured to display ultrasound images for a volume data set and a content detection module configured to detect an object within the volume data set. The system also includes an image-processing module configured to receive ultrasound signals from a diagnostic probe and process the signals to generate the ultrasound images. The image-processing module is further configured to locally change an opacity function of the displayed ultrasound image based on the detected object to change an opacity of a subset of voxels in the volume data set.

A method is provided for automatically identifying image views in a three-dimensional dataset comprises accessing with a processor a three-dimensional dataset comprising a plurality of image frames and fitting with the processor at least one deformable model to at least one structure within each of the image frames. The method further comprises identifying with the processor at least one feature point within each of the image frames based on the at least one deformable model and displaying on a display at least one image view based on the at least one feature point.

Method and apparatus for automatically identifying image views in a 3D dataset

A method and system for displaying quantitative segmental data in a 4D presentation along with local deformation is disclosed herewith. The method comprises: identifying a segment in a volumetric image data. Then, the following steps are iterated to produce a four-dimensional rendering. The iterated steps include: tracking the segment of the volumetric image data to produce a displacement field. Local deformation of the segment is identified using the displacement field. And the segment is rendered with reference to the displacement field and the local deformation.

Methods and systems for displaying quantitative segmental data in 4D rendering

A method for performing a volume rendering of an image uses a computer having a processor, memory, and a display. The method includes globally segmenting image data that represents an image to thereby locate boundaries in the image, determining regional opacity functions using the image data in a vicinity of the boundaries, and volume rendering the image data utilizing the regional opacity functions to display an image. The method provides a presentation of improved images of structures. These improved images are obtained using a regional optimization of the opacity function such that the perceived object boundary coincides more closely with a segmented boundary.

Methods and apparatus for volume rendering

A method and system for multiple view volume rendering are provided. The method includes identifying a plurality of view directions relative to an image of an object and automatically volume rendering a volumetric data set based on the plurality of view directions.
