A method and an arrangement are provided for actuating and operating a heterogeneous transport network which includes connection elements, such as ATM and Ethernet connections, by controlling a TDM-based switching system. In the area of the transport network, there are gateways and routers which are actuated by the central control device for the purposes of setting up and clearing down a connection. Information relating to the accessibility of specific communications subscribers by a communication medium and communications protocol is either stored in the area of a central control mechanism or is available locally in the area of local access devices for subscriber terminals.

Communication system

The invention relates to a method for transmitting communication data in a communication system (CSY) between a calling first communication unit (IPPA) and a called second communication unit (IPPD), wherein, in a first step a primary connection is set up starting from the first communication unit (IPPA) via at least one node unit to the second communication unit (IPPD) with transmission of addressing data of the communication units (IPPA,IPPD) and node units participating in the setup of the primary connection. Following this, the first communication unit (IPPA) and/or a first node unit disposed along the primary connection which have a valid addressing data element are registered as the ingress node. Furthermore, the second communication unit (IPPD) and/or a last node unit disposed along the primary connection which have a valid addressing data element are registered as the egress node. With the embodiment of a secondary connection (DMC) between the egress and the ingress node via a network which is available in the communication system (CSY), communication data is finally transmitted via the secondary connection (DMC).

Method for transmitting communication data in a communication system

A method and an arrangement are specified for setting up and clearing communications links via a private branch exchange. A number of types of communications device are driven via the same controller. New devices with a transport network for transporting the communications data can thus be integrated in a private branch exchange by using TDM-based devices. The central configuration of the controller allows already existing central interfaces and databases relating to subscribers to be used. If required, service feature controllers can still be used.

Method and system for setting up and/or clearing a communications link between two types of devices

A method and an arrangement are specified for setting up and clearing communications links via a private branch exchange. The transport network for transporting the communication data is preferably in the form of an ATM network or IP network, and is controlled by a separate control network, separated from it. The advantage is that the two networks are independent of one another, and that broadband communications requirements can be satisfied easily by a modular expansion capability. The central control configuration allows already existing central databases relating to subscribers to be used, and likewise allows connection-related service feature control systems still to be used.

Communications system and method

The invention describes a novel private branch exchange and the migration solution with respect to existing devices. Communication connections are established via a transport network, the control takes place in a centralized manner by means of a central control device, which is connected to the decentralized switching devices and the interface modules via a two-stage connection, a collection and distribution of the control messages being carried out in a decentralized manner and the control connection from the respective decentralized device to the central control being provided by an ATM network or an Ethernet connection.

Method and arrangement for coupling messages in a central control device with decentralized communications devices

Features available in one communication installation of a communication system are made available system-wide by transmitting an item of feature control information for a subscriber line of a first communication installation to a second communication installation. The item of feature control information is converted into at least one function call, whose associated function is provided by a computer telephony integration (CTI) interface. The function call is transmitted via the CTI interface to the first communication installation. At least one feature control instruction contained in the function call is executed by an administration and maintenance device of the first communication installation. The first communication installation depicts a controlled instance with regard to a feature control, while the second communication installation depicts a controlling instance. This makes it possible to render a feature control existing in the second communication installation usable for the first communication installation.
