A status indicating light unit includes a power input terminal, an illumination circuit, comprising at least one LED, a continuous connection circuit, coupled to the illumination circuit and configured to effect a continuous power transfer from a power input terminal to the illumination circuit, a pulsed power reception circuit, coupled to the illumination circuit and configured to draw power from the power input terminal in a pulsed manner and to continuously emit power to the illumination circuit, and a mode selection switch adapted to couple the continuous connection circuit to the power input terminal in a continuous power draw mode, resulting in a continuous power draw pattern of the status indicating light unit, and adapted to couple the pulsed power reception circuit to the power input terminal in a pulsed power draw mode.

A method for controlling a mechanical vibrating element driven by a driving means includes operating the driving means at an operation frequency for stimulating the vibrating element to oscillate at this frequency. The method also includes adjusting the operation frequency of the driving means for stimulating the vibration element at different frequencies and of determining a respective energy consumption of the driving means depending on the frequency at which the vibrating element oscillates. The resonance frequency of the oscillation of the vibrating element is identified as the frequency at which the energy consumption of the driving means is lowest and the driving means for stimulating the vibrating element can be operated at the resonance frequency.

Each of the at least one lighting strand comprises at least one voltage drop diode, with the at least one voltage drop diode in operation not contributing to the desired light intensity, and at least one of the illuminating LED's. The illuminating LED's are distributed among the at least one lighting strand and connected such that they jointly provide the desired light intensity for the set supply current.

The coding component () exhibits the electrical parameter for the provision of the maximum possible power supply current and the current controller () adjusts the operating current to a value at which the LED light means () gives off light with the desired light intensity.

The navigation lighting device for an aircraft, in particular a military aircraft and preferably a fighter aircraft is provided with several navigation light units with navigation lights, a power supply unit for the navigation tight units, and a central actuation unit for the actuation of the navigation light units in each one of several modes of operation. The navigation light units can be actuated for operation in a mode of operation by the central actuation unit sequentially in a predetermined sequence and thus with a time offset. Each navigation light unit comprises a control unit connected to the actuation unit for the actuation of its navigation light in the operation mode predetermined by the central actuation unit.
