Manually operated ejector device for holding a cartridge

A manually operated ejector device for containing a cartridge loaded with viscous material, having a chamber with a front end adapted to contain the cartridge and a back end, a piston disposed in the chamber for engagement in the cartridge, a handle arranged at the back end of the chamber, and a lever displaceable relative to the chamber and the handle for driving the piston in order to drive the latter in its longitudinal direction toward the front end of the chamber. To improve the safety of the handling of the ejector device, the piston has a spring case and a plunger, the spring case having a chamber whose one end is closed and whose other, front end has an opening, the transition between the chamber and the opening being limited by an abutment surface facing the chamber. The plunger furthermore has a cylinder guided through the opening and, on its back end within the chamber, a plunger head which has a greater diameter than the opening, at least in a direction across the longitudinal axis of plunger and spring case. Between the back end of the plunger head facing away from the cylinder there is disposed a spring unit which is compressible in its longitudinal direction parallel to the longitudinal direction of the piston, the travel stroke of the spring unit being at least as great as the distance to which the spring housing is displaceable in the guide sleeve.

Manually operated ejector device

The invention concerns a method of treating surfaces and surface-adjacent layers of dental components in particular. A series of several different plasma treatments produces high adhesion between the plasma-treated surface and a layer of plastic applied thereto. The invention also concerns a method of sealing the surface of work by treating it with plasma and covering it with a layer that contains silicate.

Method of treating surfaces

A discharge lamp includes a lamp tube containing a noble gas, two internal electrodes, and a secondary electrode disposed outside and close to the surface of the lamp tube. In one embodiment, studs are disposed on the lamp tube so as to affix the secondary electrode. In an alternate embodiment, a reflector includes an indentation pointing toward the lamp tube and configured as the secondary ignition wire.

A hand-operated polymerizer for the polymerization of synthetic materials, such as dental plastics. The polymerizer has a housing in which a light source and a fan are disposed, and which includes a light-emitting opening for emitting the light generated by the light source. The housing contains openings for permitting cooling air to enter the housing and for allowing heated air to exit the housing. In order to prevent the operator of the polymerizer from being impaired by heated air when operating the polymerizer, at least one air-conducting member is provided, wherein the position of the air-conducting member is changeable relative to the housing.

A process for the production of a firmly adhering, moisture-proof coating of plastic on a substrate of metal, ceramic, glass, or polymer by the application of a liquid preparation containing water, solvent, a (meth)acrylate, and a reactive polymer and by solidifying this coating by heating it to a temperature above 100.degree. A dental furnace for heat treatment of dental materials and dental components, particularly for firing these at temperatures over 100.degree. C. comprises an insulated furnace space which can be closed off by a door. The furnace space has a housing which is suspended in an inner housing of metal; the inner housing is supported by a multi-part outer housing, and the door is pivotably fastened on the inner housing. In order to satisfy the requirements of firing at up to 400.degree. C., and to achieve a simple, cost-effective, and light construction, the furnance of the invention has a plastic outer housing, connected by securing elements to the inner housing; the plastic elements have a shell-shaped configuration, so that they define a hollow space surrounding the inner housing, at least adjacent the sidewalls of the outer housing. The hollow space serves as an insulator, minimizing the need for other insulating materials.

Polymerization devices having an irradiation space in an irradiation chamber, the space being accessible via at least one pivotable or displaceable wall, and having a light conductor and a radiation source unit, wherein the light conductor feeds the radiation from the radiation source into the irradiation space of the irradiation chamber and forms a releasable connection between the irradiation chamber and the radiation source unit, are known. To create a polymerization device that makes it possible to operate an irradiation chamber for curing plastic dental parts by means of a hand-held polymerization unit, with the capability of easy conversion from a hand-held polymerization unit to a stationary polymerization device, the radiation source unit is a hand-held polymerization unit, which is retained by its housing part on a first support, disposed on a support plate of a support frame; the light conductor is guided in a second support of the support plate; and the irradiation chamber is supported on a part of the support frame.

Dental photopolymerization device

A driving circuit for a low-pressure discharge lamp, particularly a compact fluorescent lamp, features a heating transformer with two separate secondary windings, which are respectively permanently connected to the lamp electrodes, and furnish them with pre-heating current. Parallel to the primary winding of the transformer, there is connected a series circuit of an operating switch, a ballast inductor, and the discharge path formed between the lamp electrodes. The electrodes are connected to each other via a starter connected in parallel to the discharge path.

Low-pressure discharge lamp driving circuit

The present invention is an improvement upon a known apparatus for polymerization of a body from dental plastic material by irradiation of the body with radiation of a selected wave length in the range between about 350 nm and about 550 nm. To achieve a desired degree of polymerziation of the dental plastic, a specific amount of radiation must be applied to the body. In order to achieve reproducible irradiation results in spite of fluctuations in supply voltage, alterations in lamp characteristics, burn out of one or more lamps, shifting of spectral outputs, replacement of defective or superannuated lamps, soiling of lamps and reflector surfaces and/or changes of operating temperatures in the irradiation area, a supplemental detection system in provided. Upon beginning of irradiation, a photocell measures a percentage component of the radiation within the selected wave length range from each irradiation source, generates an electrical signal therefrom and the electrical signal is integrated and compared to a predetermined value corresponding to the desired degree of polymerization. When the predetermined value is reached, the irradiation is interrupted.

Apparatus for polymerization of plastic dental material

Fingernail light systems for curing photopolymerizable plastics on fingernails are known, having a housing with a bottom plate 7, in which housing a support body 4, having indentations 18 on its outer contour, is provided for positioning the fingers of the hand 5 to be irradiated, and having at least one irradiation lamp 14, which at least partially surrounds the support body in a spaced-apart manner in the irradiation position, the support body being accessible in the irradiation position via an opening 10 in the housing. In order to provide a system that meets the indicated needs and assures a uniform irradiation of all the fingernails of both the left and the right hand, with the light originating in the irradiation lamp substantially striking the fingernails (20-24) to be cured, in which fingernails of even great length can be irradiated and a comfortable hand posture can be maintained, even over a relatively long period on the order of half a minute, the support body 4 of the present invention features an approximately cylindrical (FIG. 1) or frusto-conical (FIG. 3 ) outer contour, at least in the vicinity of the indentations, and the indentations are in the form of channels 18 that extend substantially in the direction of the axis of the support body, and the axis 3 of the support body 4 forms an angle in the range from 0.degree. to 90.degree. with the direction 31 orthogonal to bottom plate 7.

Fingernail photopolymerization apparatus

Light systems, in particular for curing photopolymerizable plastics on fingernails, are known which have an irradiation chamber in which one or more irradiation lamps are located and having a fan for ventilating the irradiation chamber, the fan being located in a region of the housing partitioned off from the irradiation chamber. To provide a light system, in particular for irradiating artificial fingernails, that has an adequate forced ventilation of the irradiation chamber regardless of the position of the fan in the housing and regardless of the flow courses, while still being compact in structure, an air distribution chamber is provided between the irradiation chamber and the suction or compression side of the fan. The air distribution chamber is partitioned off from the irradiation chamber by a wall having air openings, and with increasing distance from the suction or compression side of the fan, the cross-sectional area for the passage of air to the air treatment chamber is greater.

Positively ventilated fingernail irradiation device

The irradiation apparatus for the photopolymerization of plastic embedding masses for histological preparations has a preparation support located in a housing and a plurality of irradiation lamps, with one lamp above and one lamp below the preparation support forming one lamp pair. In order to cure photopolymerizable embedding masses in a manner that does not harm the embedded preparations or specimens, and in particular to avoid an abrupt rise in the reaction heat, and so that a small number of irradiation lamps is sufficient, the preparation support is a rotary support plate having a plurality of light pervious preparation holding means located about its outer circumference, and the lamps are positioned such that in operation, the holding means sequentially pass in between the lamps of each lamp pair, and the centers of the holding means are located on a circle that is concentric with the axis of rotation of the support plate.

Treatment chamber for the photopolymerization of dental plastics

A terminal for a light conductor for uniform illumination of a rectangular field in medical and, especially, dental applications has a transparent, cylindrical lens body in a mount with its axis perpendicular to the axis of a socket for receiving the light exit end of the light conductor. The side of the cylindrical lens body facing the socket has a trough-shaped recess of symmetric cross section. The width of the trough-shaped recess continuously expands from the bottom to the margin of the trough-shaped recess, the bottom being perpendicular to the axis of the socket and perpendicular to the axis of the cylindrical lens body.
