The present invention relates to a branched modified polyetheramine polyol having a weight average molecular weight Min the range of ≥1000 g/mol to ≤100000 g/mol as measured by GPC, that is used as a universal dispersant for coating system, inks and color filters.

The presently claimed invention relates to polyalkyleneimine-based polymers that are useful as dispersants and a process for the preparation thereof. The presently claimed invention is also directed to dispersants that are useful in solvent-based dispersion systems as well as in water-based dispersion systems.

The present invention relates to novel polymer compositions which are obtained by neutralizing a polymer P having at least one functional moiety of the formula (I) bound to at least one of the termini and/or to the backbone of the polymer, with an oligomeric or polymeric amine PA having at least 2 amino groups per oligomer or polymer molecule.

The presently claimed invention is directed to a copolymer obtained by reacting at least one isocyanate (A) comprising at least one allophanate group and at least one active double bond with at least one isocyanate reactive component (B) to form an intermediate product (C); and reacting the intermediate product (C) with at least one active double bond reactive component (D) to obtain the copolymer which can be used as dispersant. The at least one isocyanate reactive component (B) is selected from the group consisting of monofunctional polyether amine (B1), monofunctional polyether alcohol (B2), C-Cmonofunctional alcohol (B3) and monofunctional polyester alcohol (B4).

Allophanate based dispersing agent

The present invention relates to a dispersant composition comprising: a) at least one oligomeric acid A, which has i) at least one acidic group selected from COOH and POH, and ii) at least one polyoxyalkylene-ether radical of the formula (I): R&#x2014;(O-A)O-G-, where A is an C-C-alkan-1,2-diyl radical; X is an integer having a number average value in the range from 2 to 20; and R is hydrocarbon radical having from 1 to 30 carbon atoms; G is a chemical bond or a carbonyl group; and b) at least one polyamine B, which is selected from the group consisting of polyvinylamines, poly-C-C-alkyleneimines, modified poly-C-C-alkyleneimines, melamine compounds, modified melamine compounds, poly-(C-C-alkyleneether) amines, polyetheramine polyols, and modified polyetheramine polyols. The invention also relates to aqueous pigment compositions containing a dispersant composition as defined herein, a pigment component, selected from the group consisting of pigments and mixtures of at least one pigment and at least one filler, and an aqueous diluent.

Dispersant composition

A process for preparing an aqueous dispersion of pigment particles is described. The pigment particle contains a pigment and an aminoplast resin which surrounds or embeds the pigment. The process includes (i) a step of subjecting an aqueous suspension of a pigment in the form of coarse particles to milling so that the coarse particles are comminuted in the presence of a polymeric dispersant to a particle diameter d(v 0.9) of below 1500 nm, as determined by laser diffraction; and (ii) a step of polycondensation of an aminoplast pre-condensate in the aqueous suspension of the comminuted particles of the pigment obtained in step (i) or during the milling of step (i). The polycondensation is performed in the presence of an acid catalyst at pH of below 5.5. The aqueous dispersion obtained by the process and the use of the aqueous dispersion for tinting waterborne liquid coating composition are also described.

Process for preparing an aqueous dispersion of pigment containing particles

The present invention relates to polyalkylene imine based polymers, which have aliphatic polyester groups attached to the polyalkylenimine backbone via an carboxamide group. The novel polymers are particularly useful as dispersants for pigments, in particular as dispersants for pigments in non-aqueous compositions. The polyalkylene imine based polymers are characterized by having a) a polyalkylene imine backbone; b) at least one aromatic moiety P.1, which is bound to a nitrogen atom of the polyalkylene imine backbone via an carboxamide or carboximide group; and c) at least one aliphatic polyester moiety P.2, which is bound to a nitrogen atom of the polyalkylene imine backbone via an carboxamide group.

Subject matter are aqueous, low-VOC/SVOC universal pigment preparations comprising a pigment component, a water-soluble, anionic, surface-active additive from the group of the homo- and copolymers of ethylenically unsaturated monocarboxylic or dicarboxylic acids, which may further comprise, in copolymerized form, vinyl monomers containing no acid function, and of the salts of these homo- and copolymers, the homo- and copolymers being at least partly esterified with a polyether alcohol or a derivative thereof, and comprising a phosphoric or phosphonic ester, and optionally customary additives. The aqueous pigment preparations are suitable for the coloring of inks, paints, and renders, especially in metering systems at the point of sale or in in-plant tinting systems.
