The present invention relates to a hot gas filtration system and a process for regenerating such a hot gas filtration system, said filtration system comprising a filter vessel, a tubesheet separating the interior of said filter vessel into a raw gas section and a clean gas section, and a plurality of filter elements. Said filter elements, arranged in two or more groups, are connected to the tubesheet with a clean end and extend with a raw gas portion into the raw gas section. Two or more plenum chambers are accommodated in the clean gas section and groupwise accommodate the clean gas ends of the filter elements, each of said plenum chambers comprising a gas exchange opening providing a direct fluid communication with the clean gas section. The hot gas filtration system furthermore comprises a blowback arrangement comprising a blowback gas reservoir and a blowback gas pipe for each group of filter elements, said blowback gas pipes having an outlet positioned in said clean gas section of the vessel, said outlet of the blowback gas pipes being directed at the gas exchange opening of the plenum chambers, said outlet of said blowback pipe having a free cross-sectional area of from about 10% to about 90% of the free cross-sectional area of said gas exchange opening.

Hot gas filtration system and process for regenerating said system

A catalytic filter module for gaseous fluids is disclosed comprising a block-shaped filter element, a catalytic element and a clean gas collecting and discharge arrangement. The catalytic element is substantially coextensive with the filter element, said filter element has a feed face and on its opposite side a discharge face from which filtrate exits to be received by the upstream face of the catalytic element. The gaseous fluid exits the catalytic element as clean gas at a clean gas face thereof opposite to the upstream face. The clean gas collecting and discharge arrangement comprises one or more channels extending across the whole clean gas face of the catalytic element deflecting and directing the clean gas flow transverse to the vertical of the clean gas face of the catalytic element to a clean gas discharge opening of the filter module at a side face thereof.

The reduction of nitrogen oxides in gas is carried out, by means of selective reaction of the nitrogen oxide with the reducing agent in the in the solid catalyst. In order to achieve high catalytic activity, the above is carried out at high gas temperatures. As a rule, ceramic filter elements, coated with catalytic material are used. This does, however, give rise to the risk the catalytically active components are stripped from the filter during the hot gas filtration. A ceramic filter element with support material in the form of particles, with binder material and catalytic material is thus disclosed, whereby the binder material comprises catalytic material, or the binder material is partly replaced by the catalyst material and the support material particles () are connected to each other by means of the catalyst and/or binder material.

A filter element comprises a dimensionally stable porous formed body with an interior that provides a space for unfiltered fluid or a filtrate space. The interior of the formed body is partially filled with a material of expanded ceramics that is coated with a catalyst material such that a flow channel remains open. The material that is coated with catalyst material is provided in the form of a dimensionally stable catalyst body which is inserted into the interior such that it adjoins the formed body.
