The invention relates to an apparatus () and to a method () for generating cryogenic temperatures. The apparatus () comprises at least one cooling stage () which has a cold region () and a warm region (), and a refrigerant mixture designed specifically for the cooling stage () is provided in the warm region (), the refrigerant mixture having at least two components each having a different boiling temperature, and the cold region () comprises at least one cooling stage (): —a first heat exchanger (), which has a high-pressure side () to receive the refrigerant mixture at a high-pressure level from the warm region () of the cooling stage () and a low-pressure side () to deliver the refrigerant mixture to the warm region () of the cooling stage (); —a first expansion device (), which is designed for expansion and for cooling of the refrigerant mixture at a low-pressure level; —a second heat exchanger (), which is designed for cooling and for partial condensation of a proportion of the refrigerant mixture located in a buffer volume (), the buffer volume () being designed to limit the pressure exerted by the refrigerant mixture; and —a second expansion device (), which is designed for separation of the buffer volume () from the low-pressure level of the cooling stage () or connection of the buffer volume () to said low-pressure level. The invention enables autonomous operation of the apparatus () and of the method () for generating cryogenic temperatures, in which each cooling stage () of the apparatus () can be filled with a pre-defined refrigerant mixture and can be permanently operated, and in particular in the cooling phase the refrigerating capacity can be increased, while incorrect distribution of the refrigerant of the relevant cooling stage () among parallel flow channels at the cold end of the first heat exchanger () can be prevented.

Apparatus and method for generating cryogenic temperatures and use thereof

The invention relates to a power supply (' . . . ) for transporting electrical energy from an energy source () to a device () or from the device () to the energy source (), the energy source () being arranged in a warm region () and the device () being arranged in a cold region (). The power supply (′) has a stack () comprising at least two films (′ . . . ), each film (′ . . . ) comprising an electrically conductive material which is designed to transport the electrical energy, ach film (′ . . . ) having an electrical connection which is designed to receive the electrical energy or to deliver the electrical energy, and each film (′ . . . ) comprising a plurality of flow channels () for conveying a fluid stream, and the fluid stream comprising a refrigerant mixture or a gas stream to be cooled or a gas stream to be liquefied. The films (′, . . . ) comprised by the stack () have a first flow path () through the flow channels () which is designed to receive the fluid stream at a high-pressure level from the warm region (), and a second flow path (′) through the flow channels () which is designed to receive the fluid stream at a low-pressure level from the cold region ().

Power supply and method for production thereof

A device for determining the mass flow of a fluid includes a line for conducting the fluid in a flow direction to a contact with a heat exchanger. The heat exchanger has a surface temperature which is constant in the flow direction. The device also includes a first temperature measuring position upstream from the exchanger for determining a first fluid temperature, a second temperature measuring position downstream from the heat exchanger for determining a second fluid temperature, and a third temperature measuring position for detecting the surface temperature of the heat exchanger.
