An ophthalmological measuring system, for obtaining biometric data of an eye, provided with the necessary calibration and check devices for monitoring the functionality and the calibration status. The ophthalmological measuring system includes an illumination source for illuminating an eye with light and with a sensor for recording and analyzing back-scattered or reflected light components and a controller. At least one calibration and check system integrated in the ophthalmological measuring system for monitoring the functional and calibration status is provided. A device is also provided which houses the calibration and test structures and which reads off the individual physical data therefrom by an interface. The ophthalmological measuring system is in particular provided for determining biometrical data but can also be used for ophthalmological, dermatological or other devices which require calibration and/or functional checking at regular intervals.

Ophthalmological measuring system and method for calibrating and/or adjusting the same

The invention relates to a contact glass for ophthalmic surgery. Said glass comprises a lens body that is held in a frame and a front lens surface that is designed to be placed against the eye. According to the invention, the front lens surface is concave and follows a surface curvature (K) and an annular gap is formed at the edge of the front lens surface between the lens body and the frame, said gap being used to apply a negative pressure in order to fix the contact glass to the eye. The frame is designed to follow the contour of an imaginary continuation of the surface curvature (K), or at least does not project beyond the latter.

Contact glass for ophthalmic surgery

In order to develop an electric probe for microsurgery, which is provided in particular in ophthalmology for intraocular treatments of the eye, in such a way that the probe is constructed in a simple manner, can be produced inexpensively, is easy and safe to handle, and at the same time can be used for multiple functions as an illuminated intraocular probe, it is suggested that the electric probe comprises an outer electrode, an inner electrode and a light guide. The inner electrode has a contoured electrode end face and projects out over a front end of the light guide or is embedded in the light guide so as to terminate with it. When the electrodes and light guide are constructed cylindrically, the hollow space remaining between the electrodes and the light guide is provided as a suction channel for sucking out tissue particles, and in various embodiment forms, including an embodiment as an illuminating endoprobe, the electric probe is connected to an operating and controlling device by which pre.-defined, changeable parameter sets which are adapted depending on the probe characteristics can be adjusted and retrieved.

Device for holding optical components

An electrical probe which can be used in electrosurgery as well as for measurements is disclosed. The probe comprises an inner electrode and an outer electrode which are constructed coaxially. The isolator located between the electrodes is constructed as a light guide and can accordingly be utilized for illumination or irradiation by means of a laser.

The invention is directed to a process for the targeted application of therapy radiation in the treatment of diseased areas in the eye by means of a therapy beam which is directed into the eye through an applicator. In order to determine the parameters characterizing the diseased area, an image of the fundus of the eye to be treated is produced. The parameters characterizing the shape and/or size of the area to be irradiated and controlling variables are derived from this fundus image and are further processed by a computer. A control device is controlled by means of these parameters and controlling variables and adjusts or displaces an actuating arrangement corresponding to the shape and/or size of the area to be irradiated, which actuating arrangement changes the shape and/or size of the cross section of the therapy laser beam or changes the direction of the therapy laser beam in a plurality of coordinates and is arranged in the beam path of the therapy beam.

Process and arrangement for targeted application of a therapy beam, particularly for the treatment of diseased areas in the eye

A process for monitoring and controlling the adjustment of treatment parameters in an ophthalmic treatment device which comprises a radiation source generating at least a treatment beam and, optionally, a target beam and an applicator which is connected with the radiation source via at least one optical element and can be attached to a slip lamp, wherein the following steps are provided: a) the irradiation parameters such as intensity, magnification of the contact lens placed on the eye, radiation dose per unit area, and spot size on the retina are adjusted by the operator at the radiation source; b) first parameters to be adjusted at the applicator are calculated on the basis of patient-related influencing variables such as contact lens magnification and the size of the spot to be realized on the retina, so that a determined spot size and intensity of the treatment beam to be applied can be realized at the treatment site on the retina; and c) parameters adjusted at the applicator are compared with the first parameters by means of a computer and the adjusted parameters are made to coincide with the first parameters representing reference values, and the parameters serving as reference values are realized and maintained constant for the duration of irradiation. An arrangement for carrying out the process employing an ophthalmic treatment device is also disclosed.

Process and arrangement for monitoring and controlling the treatment parameters in an ophthalmic treatment device

An arrangement for measuring the power or energy of optical radiation of radiation sources, especially laser radiation is disclosed. It comprises a module defining an open or at least partially closed hollow space, wherein the inner walls or outer walls of the module are entirely or partially occupied by detectors for generating measurement signals which are proportional to the measured parameters of the radiation sources. The detectors are connected together in such a way that their generated measurement signals are further processed to form at least one resultant sum signal or the detectors are connected to a downstream processing device to form at least one resultant sum signal. This at least one resultant sum signal is relatively independent from the position, arrangement and radiating characteristic of the examined radiation source in the module. At least one opening or guide-through is provided in the module for inserting the radiation source to be examined.
